Cotto scared me a bit on Saturday...here's why...

Cotto knew he could get away with it against Alfonso Gomez, who didn't have the power to hurt him or the speed to capitalize. He's a smart fighter; no way he fights like that against Margarito. We'll see him in his usual high-guard on July 26th.

 

He might of done that during the fight (I was in attendance) but I was with him at the after party (Cuba Libre night club) and the guy couldn't of been more down to earth. Even let me buy him a couple shots... Greatest night ever! I will have pics tomorrow and I will even start a thread...

anyways i dont remember cotto showboating, i remember him being cocky but not show boating, he puts his hands down in alot of his fights, and if you are talking about that thing he was doing wit his right hand was because he hurt it (according to the british commentators)

I hope he wasn't cocky, I noticed that too. Maybe he's just having fun in there now and is more confident about his abilities. He's still maturing, he hasn't reached his peak yet.

 

If you go back a couple of days someone posted a thread with an interview with cotto from just before the Gomez fight and he was talking about how the Win over Mosely really made him feel like he belonged at the top of the boxing world and that he could beat anyone. Basically he was saying that that win made him feel like a superstar. I think thats a positive. People make what they will of it. Larry was saying durring the fight that Cotto looked like he had kinda fallin in love with the idea of Cotto the boxer. i didn't see a boxer in that fourth round though. I saw a beast. The fith round he kinda let im off the hook though
