That is, Cotto is prepared to have the same thing happen to him which happened to Taylor in 2007: Going from a jockridden HBO golden boy to a beat-down scrap heap candidate. That might be a tad overstated. Miguel Cotto is a much better boxer than is Jermain Taylor, even if he is not the athlete Taylor is. There will still be plenty of good fights for Cotto after he is dismantled by Margarito. He won't necessarily be headed to the same junkyard which Taylor is set to occupy soon. Unless, of course, Margarito does a career-ender number on Cotto like, say, Felix Trinidad did to poser Fernando Vargas. Unfortunately for Cotto, however, Margarito is his "Kelly Pavlik." As Pavlik proved to be far too much for Taylor (twice), Margarito will similarly do with the outsized, outgunned Puerto Rican champion. True to his nickname, Margarito is prepared to go Tasmanian Devil on his diminutive opponent. And the man that Chop Chop Corley had out on his feet and that Shane Mosley had retreating like he was Floyd Mayweather for the final 4 rounds of their fight (a fight Mosely won but would never get the decision for; I mean, the NATION of Puerto Rico was one of the sponsors of the fight. That's all you need to know) will not be able to hold up to the power-punching and high output of the towering, indefatigable Mexican. So, Cotto supporters, I suggest you seek out the former Jermain Taylor followers and ask them how to deal with your guy's getting definitively KO'd and his supposed aura of 'greatness' being forever shattered. You're going to need that information for yourselves in just a few short weeks when Margo destroys Miguel. Or, if you like, you could just ask Kermit Cintron. This content is protected * Joe Calzaghe made the right decision in choosing to fight glass-jawed Roy Jones rather than face still-rising Kelly Pavlik. Joe could easily defeat Pavlik, a fighter he is naturally larger than, much faster than and whom he has a vast experience edge over. It would be like the Kessler fight, only easier, as Pavlik is not as large as Kessler is. And perhaps Joe will take it after he defeats Rickety Roy. It's his business. But Roy is still a larger name than Pavlik and if Joe doesn't sign to fight Roy now then it's likely Roy will go back to cockfighting or taking on unkown bums as is his wont. So Joe is correct in taking this fight now. If he wants to face Pavlik later, Kelly won't be hard to find and that fight can get made easily. While Roy likely won't be Glencoffe Johnson'ed against Calz, he should lose. Roy's skills were always overstated and they are even less now than they were in his wildly-overhyped, bum-o-the-month 'glory' days against part-time cops and garabagemen. isthis the margo who was saved by a broken hand vs. Josh (who?) clottey and has 5 losses? Margo may win, because he is a big rough WW but this will be a good fight.
It's over, dude. Enjoy the last 5 weeks. Take a good look around the penthouse suite, because after this fight, your boy won't see it again. Not as long as Margo is around, anyways. Ha ha ha. Margo is going to tear that ass up, and it's not going to be pretty for the Taino faction. I cannot believe how Margo crushed Cintron the second time and Cintron makes Cotto look like a bug in terms of size. Ring King. Chop Chop. Bye bye. Just like Taylor in my picture. Ba ha ha ha!
He'll lose twice to Margarito and there'll still be people picking him to beat the number one fighter two divisions higher?
man mosley himself doesnt think he won that fight... lol.. anyways... wouldnt suprise me one bit if margarito, being bigger, insane stamina good workrate and good power... roughs up cotto and is able to win... but im leaning towards cotto's more accurate, shorter punches and better defence... we will see though... you have some weird animosity it seems in this fight... meh..
Yep, you know it! You can never underestimate the power of the deluded mind. Just talk to the RJJ lovers or the Floyd 'huggers. Find some of the old Lenny Lewis fans who try to tell you he has a chin after having been KO'd/TKO'd twice with one punch. People can convince themselves of anything. I tried to tell the Taylor fans before Pavlick whipped his ass what was coming but they just didn't want to face reality. Old Taylor fans meet the current Cotto fans. You all will have a lot more in common in about 5 weeks. :good
False. That was a BS line perpetrated right after the fight. Hey, it wasn't just me. Go dig up Tim Smith's or some of the other cards that were written up by boxing beat guys. Cotto closed the show like a chump and it cost him the fight. But the Puerto Rican $$$ (both from the nation, which sponsored the fight, and from the New Yoricans who had paid big cash to see the fight in NYC) prevented the just decision from happening. Welcome to boxing. I have no animosity towards anyone in the fight, or around the fight. I simply don't let punks like JMP off easily. They're used to talking sh*t and getting away with it. Usually I let it go but every now and then the dog will bite your hand. That's what JMP just found out. This is an extremely easy fight to pick, easier than was either Taylor-Pavlik fight. That's one of the reasons I'm so confident: I know I have the winning horse. Margo is going to win the fight. Cotto has a very slim chance of lasting the whole fight. Extremely slim. The only way he will make it to the final bell is if he gets and stays on his bike the whole night and he has the stamina to stay on the bike. He doesn't have that stamina, and he doesn't have the chin to take Margo's shots. It will be a huge upset if he lasts the whole fight. Cotto is going to get punked. It's just a matter of what form the punking will take. As far as 'animosity' goes, I don't like over-rated fighters or their clueless fans. This was the same thing we all went through with the Taylor fans until Pavlik shut them up. Now, finally, Margo has come along to do the same to the Cotto fans. And none too soon. Tarver did it to the Jones fans; Rahman did it to the Lewis fans; Calzaghe did it to the Kessler fans. Etc. Again, Floyd Mayweather retired for a very good reason. He knows what's going to happen next month and he does not want to look like any more of a chump than he already is by retiring with Margo having two belts and calling him out. So he quit now, and made a smart decision. Most of the people on this board don't know a speed bag from a speed dial. They're fanboys and front-runners. That's fine, that's how it goes. But for those of us who actually understand the sport it gets old listening to their claptrap. Then you get a fight like Pavlik-Taylor and the fanboys scatter like cockroaches when the truth comes out. That's what this fight is going to be like, and I can't wait. It's going to be like Kobe getting exposed in front of the entire world against the Celtics while shooting 6/19 and choking like a dog by guiding his team to give up a 24-point home lead in the NBA Finals. These things always make the purist happy. Peace. :thumbsup
get your excuses lined up for when my man cotto tears margarito a new *******... cotto isn't no cintron nor goldie johnson ..
