I heard that too. Mercante like any other boxing fan is a fan of the sport. He didnt want to see Yuri go out like that.

He sure was a throwback when he let scottland get battered to death, or let Whitaker recreate Griffith Paret against a helpless Hurtado.Among many other late and dodgy stoppages he has been involved in.

The guy was an inept showboating hack for years and has only gotten marginally better.Sad that so many fans on here seem to be thinking he's some sort of old school badass because of his typical heavy handed posturing the other night.

yes he didn't want the fight stopped early people paid for that didn't people realize what had happened at the cintron/williams fight people were booing cause the fact the paid $ to watch a whole boxing match not 1/4 portion of it

What are you trying to say? If you are a Cotto fan with an agenda, surely we would have wanted the fight stopped straight away in the 7th, where Cotto was miles ahead on points and would win automatically by technical decision.?

Funny how some are saying the only Mercante fan's are the Cotto fans... If anything Foreman benefited in many ways from Mercantes constant 5 minute time... He could have simply wave it off... Cotto simply beat Foreman in all ways... Don't blame the ref...
