I really think so, I mean i understand he beats Judah (but he was already a punching bag) and then he beat Mosely (still quick and powerfull but old by time he fought cotto) but they are still 2 very good wins regardless, so i think if Cotto beats Wiliams or De La Hoya who is still a very tought oponent regardless of what people say, I think then he can really start demanding the Mayweather fight.

This is a good business move.

He beats Oscar and the fight with Mayweather is HUGH. It would be as big as the Oscar/Tito fight - if not bigger.

    Agreed.

If Cotto beat both Hoya and Williams a fight with Floyd would be the biggest grossing fight ever.
Its a big gamble but if it pays off, then there will be HUGE rewards!

The easy thing to say is that he should undoubtedly chase a fight with Delahoya first. Most would think he could beat Hoya, get a huge payday and then move on to possibly a bigger one against Floyd....this isn't too far out of the question now given Floyds new-found exposure and the exposure he would get from beating Hoya in a mega-fight. This would be backed up by the fact that if he fights Floyd first and loses, his marketability would drop a bit and his next fight would not be that appealing. BUT! I kinda think Oscar would be a tougher fight for him then Floyd would. I think he might actually lose to both of them, but Hoya would beat him worse and quicker, probably even knock him out.

I really think the Mayweather Camp should let him fight De La Hoya first and see what happens, cause if he looses to De La Hoya or Williams then forger about Mayweather, but if he beats any of the 2, then there will bo no other way to go but Mayweather

So no matter how you put it, this will be the best thing for him to do, both as a fighter and as a bussiness man.

Didn't Oscar already admit he can't make 147 anymore? That would make a Cotto fight unlikely. I wish DLH would go away anyhow, and let the full time fighters scramble for their title shots. A Williams -Cotto fight would be real interesting though. However, Cotto, Mayweather, or Cintron never mention Pauls name , like people that are afraid to mention the devil for fear of invoking his presence. I really doubt any of the top guys would volunteer to fight Williams at this point. Margarito only did because Williams was his mandatory. At best , all Paul can hope for is a rematch with Margarito.Floyd has to know, style wise, Williams has a real shot at beating Floyd. The same with Cotto .Even Miguel is in no hurry to take on Williams. Big risk, small reward.

I don't remember Oscar saying he can't make 147 - if anything - he said that's where he's going - cause that's where the names and money where. He just didn't want to fight Mayweather at that weight.

He did say he wouldn't fight another Puerto Rican - but we all know how many can change your mind.

And I doubt if Floyd thinks Williams or any of the WW for that fact could beat him. I see a fight with Williams playing out like the fight with Corrales. Williams chasing Mayweather and getting the **** beat out of him.

The thing with Williams: He has not earned a fight with the top 2 WW out there. Floyd and Cotto.

What????   Oscar a tougher fight? Do you realize that Oscar has lost 4 out of his last 5 fights (yes, he did lose to Sturm). 4 out of 5 and he would be tougher? Especially at 147 where Oscar would be weakened by the weight loss. Oscar can not make 147 anymore. Tougher my ass. His legs are gone and his stamina is even worse than it's ever been. After the 8th he's done. Cotto would not only win I think he could stop Oscar in the late rounds.
    Cotto TKO in 10.

:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl Cotto would stop the Great Oscar De la hoya??? Kaygb you make me fall off my chair at work sometimes  Styles make fights and yes, Oscar is a stylistic nightmare for Cotto. :deal Fade after 8, I'd imagine so because he'd be back in the dressing room after 6! You can at least give Oscar some credit, you don't always have to hate on him. You would have alot more credibility if you did. If you say he lost to Sturm, you have to at least consider the fact that he might have beaten Mosley. And he fought the P4P best to a draw a 1/2 year ago, so he still has some left in him, if not how good was he in his prime if at his old washed up age he can still compete with the best :admin

Beating DLH always helps your exposure, but I'm paranoid and impatient. I want to see Mayweather-Cotto!

I worry that DLH is too big for Cotto and a tough style matchup.

HBO, Bob, and Floyd, step up damn it!!

its funny how cotto has to fight all the tough fight at 147 .killing him self.
wail pbf has his finger in his ass siting back not wanting to take on any prime ww contenders comeing off big wins . cotto has a tough road in front of him. and he is willing to drive threw that road like a crack head in a stolen mack truck with no remorse of who gets in front of him just to get to Pbf.

If Cotto don't Fight De la Hoya in May well Cotto will fight in March against any of this two oponets Joshua Clotey or Yuiry Nushenko(wba interim, mandatory), thats is the plan acording to Arum and Team Cotto.
