that would be the smart move, and its where he belongs, I don't see Bradley or Marquez beating him. However I see Martinez beating him easily and Canelo is a 50/50 shot.

I belive Canelo is a PPV stud???? and so is Cotto, still I believe option above is better.

    thought opinions????

Cotto says he's more comfortable at 154 and looks good there, why people insist he moves down to 147 is beyond me.

Canelo would bring in the bigger numbers and it's winnable. Martinez looked real bad in his last fight.

147 cotto is a dead cotto.

145 cotto is an undead cotto, and 154 cotto is an unshot cotto

147 is where he belongs & he's been away from welterweight long enough for him to have some very attractive options at 147.
Should he stay a free agent & be able to fight both TR & GBP fighters he can take his pick from Bradley, Marquez, Provodnikov, Alvarado, Rios, Khan, Thurman, Alexander, Broner, Berto, Guerrero, Ortiz, Soto-Karass, Maidana, Matthysse & Garcia.
The only one I'd pick to beat Cotto on that list is Marquez, I see him stopping Cotto late in a back & forth affair.

he can adjust his weight well enough to go between 147-154, but he is getting older and would most likely benefit from sticking to a set weight, unless he gets a megafight offer from Sergio or Floyd

Cotto obviously doesn't feel "right" at 147 or else he'd still be there. I'm sure he's aware of how much money there is to be made at WW so his body probably won't allow him to hit that weight and still peak on fight night. Cotto isn't a dummy.

Cotto looked super good last fight out. no reason to go down to 147.

Beating Martinez for a middle weight title does WAY MORE then beating Bradley or Marquez for a belt thats not even lineal

He should go where the money is. His career will be ending soon so hes gota cash out. Bradley brings no money to the table, and JMM would be required to do VADA so that wouldnt be possible. I personally love fights with Martinez and Canelo. I think he can beat Martinez and the Canelo fight is 50/50.

Roach wants him at 147, so could see that.
