Mayweather should take a hiatus from boxing for now, hes been doing it for his whole life, i think its about time he goes inactive for 1-2 years. IMO, cotto has more to prove if he thinks he deserves a shot at mayweather, which is to fight williams. IMO PW would beat him, which would lead to the megafight between williams and mayweather. I dont know why ppl keep saying mayweather has to fight cotto, no he doesnt, hes not even the top welterweight contender.
it looks like that is exactly what Mayweather is trying to do. he is in fact taking a break right now from jumping to another fight. that time should make it clear of who he will fight next. let Cotto and Williams decide amongst each other.
Honestly this is rubbish. How would Floyd being inactive for a couple years benefit him? Since when is Cotto not the top welterweight contender? And finally Cotto is a stylistic nightmare for PW. Have you seen Paul Williams try to fight backing up? he simply can't do it, and Cotto having a much shorter frame will be able to get inside MUCH easier then Marg. He can duck and slip the punches of Williams, and use his much tighter punches to destroy Williams on the inside. Williams will always be best against guys who fight him on the outside, as this is his biggest strength.
I don't think Arum wants to risk Cotto losing to Williams at this point in time. I mean imagine having both his best fighters at welter lose to Williams. That would be embarassing to say the least. I'm sure PBF would love to see Cotto lose soon which would let him off the hook.
