They're good fighters but Canelo only beat them by a hair's breadth, if he even beat them. I had Canelo-Lara 114-114.
You have to give GGG the edge but I think the fight would be a much closer than people think it will be. Canelo can box and he doesn't have problems with guys who come straight at him like GGG would. He has trouble with movers and counter punchers.
I agree i don't think Canelo is ever going to face GGG. He is still hanging out in 155 lb catchweight land and there's a reason for that.
GGG is mentally matched on here with Ward and Froch more often than any other fighters. Same with Mayweather and Pacquiao, they are talked about fighting fighters in higher weight classes but Canelo seems to get a little bit of a pass, you have to remember Canelo has had 46 fights and the only two decent names on it that were actually his own size and weight that he beat were Trout and Lara, 46 fights, 46 fights. I'll say it again 46 fights.
Even if it was the truth, it wouldn't mean that Canelo is better than GGG. The fact is: DLH is afraid to put Canelo against Golovkin the same way as Roach and Cotto's adviser are afraid to put Cotto against GGG. Returning to "better opponents". First of all, many of them were welters and small light middles. Second: Canelo was given gift decisions against Trout and Lara. So, who did he really beat who were better than Geale or Murray ? Don't name shot Mosley or other blown up welters.
Cotto isnt going to have to worry about fighting GGG if he takes the Heiland fight. Heiland is going to walk right through him and give him a 12 round beating. Cotto will then be free to cash out vs Canelo.
If Heiland beats Cotto, it is unlikely that Canelo will want to fight him (unless Saul loses to Kirkland). Heiland has the same adviser as Cotto, so there is a possibility that they fix the fight. Otherwise, Cotto's chances are dim.
