Honestly, I think he'd beat Canelo as well. Trout's size, height and reach were bigger factors than most though. Canelo is more similar to Cotto size wise. I see Cotto outboxing Canelo. He was just lost in the fight with Trout, he didn't know what to expect. Trying to overcome the distance he got caught with a lot of shots. Too bad we'll probably never get to see this due to a wrong choice of opponent by Team Cotto.
I don't think he's sharp enough to outbox or outfight Canelo at this stage. He had the skill to do both, but seems to have lost the will/coordination.
I think we can all agree that Cotto is done against the elite and Canelo would send him to Puerto Rico on a stretcher
I don't think he'll win that fight but it will be closer than Trout-Alvarez. Alvarez KOs Trout right now.
Not really big on canelo but I think he would outfight cotto at this point and I don`t think cotto can outbox the younger fresher canelo.
Trout being a southpaw and being able to move around clearly frustrated Cotto. Canelo wouldn't be able to do the same. Cotto gives Alvarez a hard fight no matter what.
Canelo too strong, Then we see Cotto back peddle I used to want this due to style matchup but I see Cotto as too small natural weight. He will get overpowered just the same as he had done to welters years ago pre-margerito.
