Am I the only one who thinks that Cotto still being on the Ring magazine pound 4 pound list is wrong? I believe he only fell one spot when he got beat up and stopped against Margarito (I don't want to here about loaded gloves because Cotto wasn't the only guy Margarito fought with loaded gloves). Now he gets ripped up and dominated against the smaller man in Pacquiao and he is still on the list? Seriously? How do you get roughed up and embarrassed twice including one time against a guy who was not even ranked and not even at least fall down on the list? Getting a very questionable decision against Clottey shouldn't help do to the fact that Clottey wasn't rated and alot of people thought Cotto clearly lost the fight. The guy is popular, but it's obvious he shouldn't be on anyone's list anymore. I am asking for serious responses please.
I woudn't rank him because unlike JMM, he was the larger fighter and much more established at the weight and got absolutely dismantled. People ask what proof I have when I point out the bias and flaws of P4P lists in general and The Ring's list in particular, and Cotto now is one of the pieces of evidence I use to prove it (along with how overrepresented HBO welterweights are compared to every other division). Hatton lost his spot for getting beat up by Mayweather when he was the one moving up in weight; yet Cotto keeps basically the same one after getting shredded by Pac?
I'm too burned out from school to retype it, but here's a link where I break down my case that Golden Boy Promotions gets favorable treatment from HBO in exchange for giving HBO fighters priority in The Ring's P4P list, which increases their marketability. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=188366&highlight=ring
