After all the friendship and sports comradeship that existed between Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao for their 2009 mega fight this past November 14th in Las Vegas, Cotto was dismayed with Manny Pacquiao’s position towards the proposal for Olympic type drug testing requested by Floyd Mayweather. “I am in complete awe with Manny’s reaction to this matter. He has always been a great athlete and a gentleman. Why in the world would he require restrictions or conditions for the tests? It is a golden opportunity for him to dissipate all worldwide rumors surrounding his figure and the use of enhancement drugs. His refusal to commit to the tests without conditions raises questions. Olympic type drug testing is the most efficient tool for the sport to secure fair play. My recommendation to all boxing authorities in the world is to implement it across the board. I would agree to it without hesitation or reservations. It is the only way to ensure that the outcome of a bout is the strict result of conditioning and ability. To magnify your talent with drugs is repulsive,” Miguel Cotto stated.

Cotto will without a doubt be fixated on this entire negotiation process, as he should be.

    Cotto is the man.

He also said that this should be implemented not just for this fight, but all fights.

I said from the start that I don't agree with the Mayweather request which is simply a way of ****ing with Manny + indirectly trying to tell people he's guilty, but if I was Pacquiao, I would immediately accept the tests and use that as extra motivation to beat FMJ.If he accepts the tests, that would only make him look like the true winner at the end of the bout, no matter what the result may be.

Pacquaio can still go on with his lawsuit. If he wins, just give all the money back to the poor within the US. That would be the best possible PR scenario for Pac.

Agreed, I think the possibility of Manny being a cheater at this point has to be unnerving for Cotto.

If this situation doesn't come to clear solution, you can't help but feel bad for the guy. Cotto must have some of the worst luck.

I agree with Cotto. It completely baffles me that Pac is refusing to take Olympic style drug testing if he isn't doing nothing. The refusals and bull**** reasons for not wanting to do it is mind boggling.

Pacman has no problems taking the tests but doesn't want to take them one day before the fight because blood loss could be damaging for him physically going in a dangerous fight like this. Why are people ignoring this?
