Why? Why was he so focused on the head ... why didn't his corner tell him to go to the body? It was obvious that he could land at will and i'm sure that some body punches wouldve slowed down Cotto's attack.
because margo was open to the head all night... if you were fighting a guy who wasn't defending is face wouldn't you hit him there?
STFU, LOSER. You don't know **** about boxing. You were one of the hacks spewing garbage about Margarito and his chances. Let me take a big steamy **** on the crow you are eating right about now!!!! :hi:
I have to make amends. You have successfully started a very intelligent, useful thread without including Floyd Mayweather. I take my hat off to you fitz. And you're right, Cotto had no body work because he was backpedaling, it's harder to tea off on the body whilst going backward being attacked from above (Margarito throw so many upperhand rights, lefts.. from all angles):good
Good point. Margo always keeps his hands low to protect his body. He'll let you tee off on his head all night. However, Williams did get in a few good body shots when he fought Margo.
actually i do i also coach boxers:good but what does that have to do with cotto not throwing body shots?
i think he didnt throw body shots because he was walking backwards the whole fight. he's usually the person who comes forward and picks his shots to setup the body work.
actually yes i am, i forgot more boxing than you will ever know hell the cheese in my foreskin knows more about boxing than you and your homoerotic father will ever know.:hey :hey
I don't think Cotto felt that the body was open. Marg allowed his head to be open so Cotto would head hunt and leave his body alone. If Cotto could have figured out how to attack the body and also utilize a clinch then it could have helped him. But both men decided to kill the head till one of them fell. It was such a classic fight.
usually cotto throws head and body combos but in this fight cotto threw 4-5 punch combos only to the head.
What about the straight jab to the body ... I see Cotto throw it a couple of times ... no matter if Cotto is back pedaling or not ... you see Cotto would back pedal but he could pretty much land whatever he wanted. Often times Margarito was just walking into **** ... and i'm sure that Margarito wasn't protecting that mid section ... he would protect the sides but not the middle to the pit of the stomach. All Cotto had to do was when he stepped back throw that straight jab to the belly, Margarito was walking into it all night and for that fact that he was walking into it wouldve made the punch more effective.
Margarito was open for the double left hook combo (hook to the head then the body) ... I wish that Cotto wouldve hooked off the jab ... when he jab'd Margarito's hands would drop and Cotto wouldn't follow through with anything - he would just wait for Margarito to recoup.
