Mayweather win puts him in #1 P4P for some time in my book.

Mayweather loss doesn't do much for me, considering he's legitimately fighting 2 weightclasses higher than he legitimately can fight in (i think he is a solid Lt. Welterweight, while Pacquiao is a solid Lightweight). I think a loss would little diminish what he has done.

I think a loss in his "fans" minds and others outside of boxing, would mean the end of the world. I think having a Zero Loss has been his key marketability, considering his lousy personality is NOT a selling point. I think this is why FMJ had been so careful with his fight picking. Im not against that either. Generally, you want to pick fights you feel you have a good chance in winning, not a 50/50. Some are very brave in picking almost even fights, some want a sure victory.

I think when we look on history, we laud those who had been brave in the face of true competition, versus those who look for only wins as their success. I guess "success" in itself is subjective and only truly defined by one's own terms and subsequent actions.

Get off that crack pipe fool. Him acting like a total douche gets people talking. Even when he doesnt fight for a year and goes off the radar, people talk about him.

 

Problem is that Cotto will try to box him and Mayweather will get the better of Cotto. Only way I see Cotto winning this is if he bangs with Mayweather and catches him and goes for the kill.

 

Losing to Cotto would ruin his rep imo.

 

I agree with the latter portion but where have you heard from Cotto's camp that boxing will be the strategy they will employ?

 

I havent seen Cotto going to war since Ricardo Torres. Against Judah, Mosley, Mayorga, Margarito he was boxing behind his jab, sometimes he would bang but this is not the Cotto of old who would ruthlessly go to the body and head from the opening bell trying to get his opponent out before round 6.

I really hope he opts to fight like he did against Corley or Torres. Still he would probably get caught and Koed but at least he would have a better chance at catching Mayweather.

I believe we will see Cotto who boxes and will lose a UD.

You are right he went after Judah but Judah is weak and Cotto smelled blood. Watch his fight against Mosley, I expect a similar Cotto to show up against Mayweather exept Mayweather is a much better boxer than Mosley.

 

Cotto is not even close to one of the best fighters on his resume. Cotto is not an elite fighter. This will be evident when Mayweather toys with Cotto.

 

Losing to Cotto will not take nor tarnish Mayweather's legacy. What is done is done and Money, similar to Oscar in the Trinidad fight will be the greater and better skilled boxer. This regardless May losing to Cotto which is very unlikely or not.

 

If Cotto wins a single round I will be surprised.

 

It will be his error, thinking he will beat Cotto. Cotto will win by Ko by 7-9 rounds.
