Cotto v Berto fall 08'

I'm getting tired of the back and fouth jabber about Cotto v Mayweather because realistic-lee that fight might not happen. As desperately as boxing fans want this to happen ... these fighters don't need each other and are stars in their own right.

Now I see Berto on the rise and you know that Mayweather isn't going to fight him, but he can become the universally the number 1 ranked challenger.

Who knows this guy might be the tune up for Mayweather that Cotto needs in prep for a fight with Mayweather, if PBF and TopRank can squash this beef.

How do you guys see Cotto v Berto taking place and remember this is a realistic match up.

 

I don't know ... I think that Berto is in line for a title shot ... he's just had his second title elimator ... he can elect to challenge Cotto and i'm pretty sure that team Cotto and TopRank would be looking for such a fight for Cotto.

Reguardless if he's ready or not how do you guys see the fight panning out?

 

Berto would still come and fight ... I think he would play the aggressor and Cotto will play the roll of the boxer. He's adopted the Mayweather style what better fight would suit him?

Berto is undefeated w/ a good amateur background ...

Berto isn't going to fold ... Cotto would have to knock him out and don't forget that Berto isn't too shaby ... he has shown skill

I question his chin, but his skills speak for itself

 

why?

I'm not saying he would beat Cotto but I see him making a fight out of it and if Paulie Malignaggi can take him 12 then I don't see why Berto can't do it.

This fight is very possible and w/ all this talk about Floyd fighting him there are plenty of fish to fry.

He doesn't need Floyd and Floyd doesn't need him ... they can co-exist for a short bit ... there's a fight that has to happen but not in a hurry.

I'd love to see this fight ...

What do you mean ... you don't off the bat have to fight GateKeepers before you take a title shot ... he has a regional belt and has defended it ... he's due for a title shot. He's went the full 12 ... he's fought stepping stones .. what else is there to do?

I don't hate either ... don't ever say that ... i'm a Cotto fan ... I just don't think he can beat Floyd.

 

Not in that sense Assassin ... but in the sense that he can adapt to any style ... Shane Mosley was good at one thing ... so was Zab ... now you have a fighter that is good at something totally different.

He's undefeated as well ... he has a decent name so far and is constantly building clout.
