Old news I know, but at 160 lbs with 30 days to lose just another 5 lbs, has Cotto peaked too soon?

    Or

Is Canelo leaving too much to shed being over 12 lbs over the limit 30 days from the fight?

Cotto could still make 147 if he really wanted to but he only will have a 6 week camp by the time of the fight. I doubt he peaked too soon. Nelo is simply a bigger man.

i agree but he cant get his body into that sort of conditioning anymore
if he was making 147 he would be dead on those scales!. wasnt he drained even against manny back then
you gota loev coto for stepping up to the young hungry lion im sure he will go for it if he losses clearly on points he will retire so im sure he will go for it.

Cotto wasn't drained against Manny. The catch weight was 145. Cotto weight 146 for the Clottey fight.

Canelo is actually bigger than GGG despite fighting at 155. GGG weighed at 165 at the 30 day weigh in for Lemieux. Alvarez is heavier and he's got to lose 5 extra lbs compared to Golovkin.

As he gets older, 160 may not be able to contain him...sorta like how JCC Jr. struggles to make even 168 despite making 154 earlier in his career. When Canelo feels the torturous struggle to make 155, and gas early against Cotto in route to getting knocked out, he's going to wish the fight was at 160.

You have no way of knowing whether Cotto was drained or not, you're simply speaking from ignorance, or maybe Pac fanboyism. If a fighter doesn't want their win questioned then don't ask for the catch weight, that goes for Cotto, Pac, Mayweather etc. anyone..

I think Cotto is far too seasoned and disciplined to have peaked too soon.

He's probably around where he wants to be right now.

Catchweight-Canelo will no doubt be able to drain himself accordingly for the official weigh-in.

I expect him to outweigh Cotto on fight night but a good 6 or 7lbs.

It tells us that Canelo is a massive weight cutter. If you need to lose 10% of body weight 30 days into a fight you are either too undisciplined or a ridiculous weight cutter - and Canelo is certainly not undisciplined.
