I think that people aren't talking enough about this fight ... its going to be a great fight and I think that its going to produce alot of fireworks.

    Mexico v Puerto Rico

    WW supremacy ...

We all know what lies for Cotto if he were to win but what is in store for Margarito if he wins?

A possible unification bout with Paul Williams, a rematch with Cotto ...

Where would Cotto go if he were to lose? ... a rematch with Margarito ... a shot at Paul Williams ...

    What do you guys think?

I know that its going to be tough ... and i'm excited to see that fight in particular ... i'm going to be rooting for great boxing and excitement ...

This fight isn't going to get a prediction on my behalf ... I know what both need to do to win ... and will be seeing if they execute it.

Hmmmm, tough questions. There are so many things that can happen no matter who wins. here are some scenarios

    1) Cotto wins (cotto options)
    a) if he doesnt have a mandatory, i would expect him to fight either the winner of clottey/judah or face williams.
    b) maybe rematch with mosley
    c) DLH
    2) Cotto loses (cotto options)
    a) immediate rematch
    b) if margarito goes to rematch williams, Cotto may be able to still fight winner of judah/clottey to hopefully try for another belt
    c) rematch with mosley with the winner positioning themselves for a title.

    3) Margarito wins (not really a 3rd choice obviously, but just talking about his options)
    a) immediate rematch with Cotto
    b) rematch with paul to try to start unifying
    c) dlh may allow mosley to fight him (havent heard people discuss this option)
    d) fight winner of zab/clottey)

    4) Marg loses (this may be terrible for his career)
    a) fight someone like quintana or loser of zab/clottey in order to hopefully position himself for a future title shot. If he loses any of these fights, he would probably be out of the WW picture forever

immediate rematch is out of the question if Margarito loses ...

I like the Mosley rematch because they both can still generate some big money and a nice event.

I don't like the idea of Cotto fighting Clottey ... no one knows who Clottey is.

and Judah is out of the question because he destroyed Judah ...

I would like the winner to fight Williams ... I would like the winner if its Cotto to fight Berto ... to get him ready for a fight w/ PBF ...

what if judah had a title? wouldnt it be good for Cotto to go ahead and take it? I'm with you on fighting williams though. How would cotto fighting Berto prepare him for Floyd though?

I can't say ... I don't think Judah could do anything to win ... and I don't think he's good enough to beat Clottey.

This guy is going to keep his losing streak alive ...

Because Berto is fast, he has a simular stances and tries to fight like Floyd.

He can call Berto a carbon copy of Floyd and use it as a ploy to lure Floyd in.

If he loses I don't see Cotto giving him a rematch ... i'm sure this is a career defining fight for Miguel and he expects it to be a war ...

    agreed.

it's good rep for both guys.
but how the fight plays out might dictate if a rematch is a real deal.

especially since floyd is (apparently) out of the equation.

Dude I don't get it ... if he's not ready now when is he going to be? ... if this guy wins a title he's good enough to challenge another titlist ...

and if Cotto wants to make a statement against a new generation fighter - who tries to mirror Floyd ... then Cotto should aim for this guy ... Berto's going to get paid.

How would it be any different if he were #1 ranked by the WBA?

chill man. i wasnt under the assumption that you were talking about Berto fighting Cotto while Berto has a belt. I thought you were saying that Berto would be challenging Cotto for his title. Is berto getting a title shot soon that I've forgotten about?

well if he is #1, then he earned his shot. i'm talking about if they were to fight like in like october or november. I'd like to see how Berto could handle a good contender, like Collazo or maybe Quintana since he just lost

Well since PBF retired ... he vacated all of his titles ... I think that Berto v Rodriguez is going to be for a vacant strap.

Well, if Berto has a belt, then he is one of the guys at the top. I wouldnt have a problem with Berto vs Cotto.

I would actually like to see a Berto vs Zab fight. How would that play out?
