If Cotto brawls then that plays into Margarito's hand ... and if that takes place I see Cotto getting caught with something silly and possibly getting hurt. . If Cotto gets hurt, I don't see Margarito tiring himself out trying to finish him off ... I see at that point Margarito turns it up and never lets up on Cotto. With that being the case I see a KO or a stoppage by Margarito.
This will be essential here. Starting fast. Margarito can not give up early rounds to Cotto. He cannot let Cotto breathe on the outside. He has to be in Cotto's face and he has to put that jab in Cotto's face the whole way. He has to work every minute of every round. Cotto will degenerate into a brawler at some point and his body and heart will be severely tested.
Not anymore. After the Williams fight he promised himself to never start slow again. If you look at his last two fights after Williams, he came out swinging in the first round. (Cintron II, and Johnson)
A guy who wasn't on his level and a guy that he had previously stopped before. He had reason to start fast against those guys ... but he's in there with a fighter that he's going to have to respect early on.
Margarito isn't going to be able to make any mistakes ... if he thinks he's on the level of Mayweather and Cotto, he's going to have to show the skill. Will, heart, and determination isn't going to do anything to get him the victory. IMO this is a step up in class and quality of opposition ... I can't say that Margarito isn't able to get knocked out because he's fighting a fighter that he's never seen before ... skill wise, speed, savvy, boxing, and accurracy.
This is where most are going wrong. Those three attributes separate the contenders from the pretenders. You can have loads of natural ability but if you don't have those three you are toast.
