if this fight was made two years ago would it have been good fight or a loss for money or a another whoopin by him.but not now i think floyd would just win by KO.

    I think Mayweather would've won. It's a shame that it didn't happen.

Though I suppose that Cotto gave Pacquiao legitimacy at 147 which ultimately maybe makes Mayweather-Pacquiao a better matchup. Both Pacquiao and Mayweather have beaten top WWs recently.

i now have the theory that Floyd retired for 2 years because he wanted his body to fully grow into the welterweight division before feeling heavy pressure to fight the very big guys like Margo and Williams. His body has filled in and thats why hes back.

I thought about that, not really sure why he "retired" with the DLH rematch on the table though. I know he's got a huge ego and probably wanted a bigger split of the purse, but that was another huge purse plus more time to build his body to a bigger WW frame.

I remember DLH after the Forbes fight saying the Mayweather rematch was going to be at a catchweight of 150.

That woulda been a good fight but Floyd would have won. Floyd would have won at any stage of their careers (if they were at the same weight). I still think Mayweather-Cotto to this day would be a good match. It's better than a lot of the alternatives if Pacquiao pussies out again.

i don't think Money would of KO'd Cotto back in '08, he probably wouldn't knock him out now, maybe Cotto's corner throw in the towel late on but for me a easy UD for Floyd

that is the answer Even Bob Arum said that floyd wanted to heal up
he said "with all that talent and all that money on the table (Delahoya rematch) he has to be hurting his body is breaking down" and Bob hates the dudes guts but he also knows the guy outside of the public eye like all of them do.
IF BOB WANTED TO HE COULD HAVE PRESSED THE ISSUE about that fight like he was doing the Margs fight in 06' if he thought Floyd was ducking Cotto.

the Cotto v floyd fight in when Cotto had his 0 is the ONLY FIGHT I truly wished would have happened all the other fights people say he should have taken when the Hatton money was on the Table is just bad business

Alot of people dont even remember when Arum said Cotto was not ready for Floyd.

I'm a firm believer that styles make fights. Stylistically, this is not a good mactchup for Cotto. Cotto can't seem to get out of the way of right hands, or any straight punch down the middle for that matter. Cotto is susceptable to uppercuts. Cotto has stamina issues, seems to have problems taking a punch, is basically a one handed fighter, and his best punch is a left hook.

Mayweather is has vey quick hands, is effective with both hands, is illusive, and is a very sharp and accurate puncher. He's fought one guy that has a similar style to Cotto and that was Bruseles. He tore Bruseles up. Now Cotto is much better than Bruseles, and would fare better. However, he would not be able to do enough to win. Cotto would be eating right hands and left hooks all nigh, and his left hook wouldn't be landing. Cotto's only chance would be to use his jab to pin Mayweather to the ropes and do damage there. If that didn't work, he would be in for a long fight.
