I have very little doubt that Floyd will outpoint Cotto. Could he stop him? Possibly, lots of clean, flush shots.
So mayweather is a KO artist all of the sudden? atsch Mosley and Margarito hit much more harder than Floyd at 147! And they didn't knock him out, Margo TKOd him by wearing him down till Cotto had nothing left. Floyd fights very defensibly to actually knock him out. BTW Floyd would win but not by KO.
So not only he would stop Cotto, but also Shane? You serious? No one has ever KO Mosley but you actually would expect Floyd to KO him with his style? Yea because we know the killer instinct of Floyd when he was in with an overmatched fighter like Baldomir. Floyd at welterweight is overrated by many.
orion100 your a troll cotto by tko, if floyd wants to eat body shots like in the dlh fight cotto would really hurt him, cotto hits harder than most welters and has great footwork with an alsome jab mayweather will start to back up and thats when cotto will to start to show his power, mayweather is overrated the first castillo fight was rob he lost but took the win, he fought an old man at 154, the only tough contender i'll give him is hatton, but cotto has zab judah, mosley, paulie, and quintana, you guys really put cotto down no hard feeling not a fanboy just read my opinion.
I am so tired of comments about Cotto's chin. Let's remember Cotto took a knee against Margarito. He wasn't flat on his ass. That talks very well about his chin. Mayweather/Cotto: I think he can present the challenge we want to see for FLoyd. Except for the fact Cotto needs to improve his defense. But his hands are fast and solid. I say Floyd by desicion. Floyd/Margarito: Easy victory for Floyd. Margo is just too slow and lack the defense to fight Floyd. Mosley proved that. Mayweather/Mosley: AWESOME FIGHT!! Because of the styles. True is Cotto outboxed Mosley once. But I am not sure he could do that againg. Mosley could win that fight. Very hard to say. Mayweather/Pacquiao: Pacquiao will throw more punches than Floyd ever seen before. And is the only one IMO that trains as hard as Floyd's does. Could go either way. There has never been doubts about Floyd's talent and discipline. He is a Gym Freak!! The only complaint is he hasn't take the biggest challenges available. Right now, those challenges are: Pacquiao, Mosley, and Cotto. And all of them will sell very well. Many millions to be made. If he wants to comeback and make a couple of fights these are the perfect candidates.
Mayweathers greatness seems to grow on this site with his inactivity. By the way Cotto didn't start "backing up" or "running" in the mosely fight he started boxing and moving while still landing effective punches against mosely and margo. Margo and mayweather have very very different styles so to imply anything on a matchup between Cotto and mayweather based on cotto margo is just stupid. Cotto has shown he has fast hands, he was beating shane to the punch all night. He can take a punch, he tools Marcos and shane best all might and was never floored, he took a knee. Floyd has yet to Ko a real welterweight since... Sharmba mitchell I believe so the fact some of you mayweather fanatics are predicting an easy night finished by a Ko shows the bias in your opinion. Floyd is very capable of out pointing Cotto but it will a tough contest. In no way is this a walk in the park and could very well end up a decision for Cotto.
PBF by UD. I can see Floyd winning by a wider decision, but he certainly isn't going to put more of a beating on Cotto than Margo did.
People that never saw Cotto at the beginning of his career think Cotto started boxing during the Mosley fight. But that's only because HBO fabricated the slugger reputation trying to make him look like Trinidad. But true is Cotto out boxed Mosley. I am not 100% sure he can do that again. He definitely has some defensive problems. Nothing impossible to fix.
