Wow a feel good thread without the bull****.. Great fight, one of my faves..I love Cotto's style, although i felt Mosley could have done more, or maybe he couldn't cos of Cotto's game plan etc.. I had Cotto winning by 2
I may be in the minority but I think I had mosely up by one round both times I scored it. However my girl, who is also a big fan, scored it even.
This was one of the best welter championship fights in a long time.... could have gone either way I don't think either side did enough to say he was better than the other man that night..... But this was also the fight that showed Cotto could be beaten by big punching and continuous pressure.... They both ate alot of shots that night and I think this is the fight that changed Cottos career....
You can't score a fight 6-5-1 and say that it was definitely not a draw. The very fact that you have a round even shows that, even if you said nothing else. Going by that and your prior comments, the "definitely not a draw" flies in the face of your entire position. You can't score a fight by one point, allow for a swing round, and say it was definitely not a draw.
Mosley landed so many crunching right hands, and I think Cotto wobbled at least once, or at least appeared to be shaken JUST a bit, but NOT QUITE enough for Mosley to get him out of there. Such an exciting battle. I think if Mosley had just put punches together and stopped looking to put Cotto out with a big right hand, he would have fared better. That said, Cotto was able to win on my card. If Floyd beats Mosley, it would be incredible if we could get Floyd vs. Pacquiao and Cotto vs. Mosley II. That's the dream scenario, in my eyes.
This was a very good fight. It was a close but clear victory for Cotto which even Mosley acknowledged, which is highly unusual when a closes points decision goes against you.
They were dropping bombs in there...I think Shane expected to stop Cotto because of the previous trouble and times Cotto was down earlier in his career aT 140...I've watched it a few times and I think the last time I gave it to Cotto by a round, when I watched a while back I gave it to Mosley by a round, so.. I really want to see Cotto come back, I'd like to see him with a top trainer and fighting a couple top 20 guys trying to learn some new things in there... Then another title run at welter...
I had cotto by 2 rounds but that was a long time ago. I'll definitely have to catch that again sometime. The paths their careers have taken since then are completely the reverse of what I thought when that fight happened. Cotto is the "shot" fighter and Mosley is the one on top of the division and if he keeps winning, will have nothing but big money fights lined up.
He certainly looked faster, stronger and more powerful than he has lately........watch Cotto Shane and have Cotto Pac or Cotto Clottey playing alongside (might slow your PC down a bit running two vids). So much less of himself in recent fights.
