Cotto vs Berto

I'm not a Berto fan but any top fighter beats Cotto at this point. Cotto's best days are past him.

 

Like the Lacy comparison.

Not sure Cotto quite murders him, but yeah, I'm not a HUGE fan of Emmanuel Steward, but before him, Berto has a shot because it was the worst kept secret in boxing that Cotto was a sucker for an uppercut and that happens to be Andre's best shot. Now though, I think Steward sorts that out and takes away Berto's only genuine edge.

 

Can you defien TOP fighter? What makes Berto a top fighter? A close win over Collazo? Because that's it to date. Good post though! :good

To be fair to Arum, Berto shouldn't be getting 50 percent so those comments don't really tell us much about who is being unreasonable in the situation.

Though Arum more than likely lowballed the **** out of him.

 

Hope Berto mans up and accepts a realistic cut to make this happen.

Berto has faster hands (and really, not by all that much).

Other than that, Cotto is better at literally everything.

 

Based on what, Cotto moving up and struggling a tiny bit with a titlist in a division where he didn't belong in the first place?

 

This match would be a lovely way of truly seeing where Cotto is at. I still feel that Cotto takes it, but he may be more diminished than I am aware of. If he blows Berto out, that shows that he may have another couple of great fights in him...

Honestly, Cotto.

Cotto's chin troubles all but disappeared when he moved into that sweet spot (147). At 140 he was a wonderful fighter but a bit drained at the end, and it affected his ability to take a shot. At 154 he's just too small. Welterweight, to quote Goldilocks, is just right.

Berto would have been stopped by Margarito and Pacquiao on those same nights...maybe earlier in both instances.

Cotto certainly has greater defensive ability...when he does use it.

Too much has been made of the couple of times Cotto has appeared to gas late. His stamina's fine.
