What's going on guys. I made a new breakdown video for Cotto-Canelo similar to the one I made from Mayweather-Pacquiao. I hope it generates some good discussion and you enjoy watching it.

    Check it:

Good breakdown. I think it pretty much comes down to Cotto's chin. He will outskill Canelo primarily with the jab and footwork and do the more consistent work throughout but Canelo will catch him big at least a few times with his spurts. Since moving up to Middleweight we really haven't seen Cotto take a solid shot as he annihilated Rodriguez, Martinez, and Geale without taking much of anything.

    Thanks!

That is an interesting point. He took some solid lefts from Martinez but they weren't counters. I think he's wearing the weight well though in terms of his movement and power so I think his chin has likely adapted as well. It was never granite but he's also never been actually knocked out, just hurt and stopped on accumulation. More importantly his confidence is very high with Roach at the moment and that mentality is important when you take shots, and he'll have to take some to punch with Canelo like he wants to.

The lefts weren't that solid due to the lack of stability in Sergio's knees, the power Sergio generated was from his legs, his positioning and punch placement more so than sheer raw Kovalev like brute power. Without his legs they probably weren't a quarter of what he hit Williams with.

Great summary very refreshing to evaluate both fighters with out looking their resume it could be a long battle maybe a split decision very difficult for Cotto to win in Vegas if they allow Levy Martinez to judge.

Target practice for Canelo, Cotto is not a slick defensive runner by any means. You guys will see what happens come fight night :nod

Nice work! I appreciate the effort. Can't wait for the fight. I'm leaning towards Canelo because of youth and size. But it is a 50/50 fight.

Golovkin was Cotto's mandatory, but Cotto refused to fight him, so Cotto is paying Golovkin step aside money, now Golovkin will be the mandatory for the winner of the Cotto/Alvarez fight, which is a sick joke. Golovkin will knock out the winner, but I suspect the winner to give up the title rather than fight Golovkin.............................Alvarez will probably beat Cotto, Pac beat the **** out of Cotto, stopped him...............easily................

Thanks a lot everyone for taking the time to watch it. Glad you liked it.

Possible, but I did a side-by-side study of his movement with fights in his prime and found he could still lean on his right leg and looked similar (youtube doubler is a great tool). Plus the left straight power comes from the back leg; it was the right knee that was injured. I was at the fight and a few of them sounded pretty loud.

It's not the most reliable test, but it's something. Plus they weren't counters, Cotto was leaning away from them, not walking into them like Paul.

Did you discuss they are probably the two smallest men to fight for the middleweight title ?
