I actually think this version of Cotto is a better match up for Canelo due to him being more offensive under Roach. I actually prefer the Diaz coached Cotto in this fight. If Cotto uses more movement and boxed like he did back then he would probably win but this more offensive Cotto plays more into Canelo's strengths. Also stamina will be key in this fight as both fighters have suspect stamina IMO.

Roach seems to suggest a mix. Box early bout also pressure. I think that's smart because while Cotto has a good jab and great movement, he doesn't have the reach to stay out of Canelo's shots boxing all night, and Canelo won't avail himself like Margarito did. So it could become very easy to just time Cotto whenever he's in range. But if Cotto spends some time in the pocket Canelo could be kept guessing how much he's going to commit and keep his counters at home a bit more.

    Same here...interesting breakdown as well.

Opie Alvarez has already committed an error by saying recently that he is not concerned at all with Roach and that Cotto is old now and cannot change anything in his fighting style.

If he walks into the ring with that type of preparation he will get his ass handed to him in a bad way ...!!!!

He literally went blow for blow with an inactive Club Fighter in Kirkland.

He was at a complete loss against Floyd.

    He struggled against Lara.

Confidence is great however it appears he is underestimating Cotto...possibly he is basing their performances against a common opponent in Trout !!!

This new circling staying on the outside Cotto has a chance.

Nice Video but Cotto stands only a punchers chance. :good

He isn't outshustling Canelo, he isn't beating Canelo to the punch, he isn't going to be able to run away like Lara or Mayweather, and he surely isn't going to rough the sturdier stronger Canelo.

Cotto is getting KO or will finish the fight in Survival mode from about the mid rounds on. :deal

Didn't you watch Opie vs Kirkland?

    Kirkland landed at will...!

Opie was hurt on a few occasions and didn't have formidable stamina.

Jose Cotto a 135 pounder had Opie on queen st had it not been for the ropes he would have hit the canvas!

Also, Lara didn't run...he out boxed Opie!!!

Survival mode...and Opie is going to finish fresh as a daisy???
    LOL...!!!!

Okay, I see you're unreasobale in your assesments...

Obviously your butt-hurt in regrds to Canelo for one reason or another...

Jose Cotto caught Canelo clean and Canelo handled it very well, and beat the snot out of him, he didn't even resort to fouling like a b!tch the way Cotto and Trinidad did when they were in trouble.

Btw, Miguel Cotto has been rocked far worse and far more times than Canelo and by far lesser guys who he had the size advantage over... Facts, you gotta love them!

Canelo went on to move up to a more suitable weight and despite getting clocked at least twice by hard hitting Puerto Rican Cintron, Canelo made his Puerto ***git ass his b!tch.

And Kirkland got KTFO, not Canelo.

Kirkland coming off a two year layoff in prison.

Jose half ass trained and hung out at Double Six pounding 12 oz' scoring with whichever Huchi he could.

I actually like Opie...I just feel he is a good "Gate Keeper"!!!

That is not Canelo's problem. If his opponents want to have a chance at beating him they have to fully train and come prepared.

If you think he's just a gatekeeper that is your opinion and you are entitled to it of course.

I want to see you on this thread Nov. 21 eating crow.
