Still a pick em fight to me. I will have to think about this fight as it gets closer to give a real pick. If Cotto chooses to box and move he probably could win this but with his new emphasis on offense and sitting down more on his shots with Roach who knows? Cotto can be lured into a brawl and that would favor Canelo. This fight really depends on which Cotto shows up one that will box and move or one that will look to brawl more.
I wouldn't say Cotto is a brawler with Roach. It's controlled aggression with accurate power shots. Canelo lately, likes to try and counter punch. Cotto will be pressuring, cutting off the ring and will punch first. I don't think Canelo will find many opportunities to counter. He will probably look for that uppercut, but ever since Cotto got this posture corrected with Roach, that vulnerability of Cotto's has diminished. His footwork has also looked stellar, always in a great position to punch. I am expecting Cotto to put on a great performance. He was due the spotlight when being set up to face Oscar years ago, then got beat by Margarito. That effectively stopped his launch to super star-dom. This is another chance for that glory and I see Cotto seizing this opportunity with great determination. I anticipate a sizzling performance and another stoppage for Cotto in 10 rounds.
Aaahh.....by the way, how many has Opie beat down and forced into retirement to date...? If you consider the Kirkland a beatdown....also keep in mind he received as good as he gave. Still does not have the defense to match up against Cotto...!!! Opie will still prove to be a Red Headed Punching Bag !!!
