Since Oscar DLH don't think Canelo is ready for Mayweather, could Cotto get a shot at him instead? How would that fight play out?

I still don't think he's ready, and I feel Oscar would agree. I'd still love to see it.

I think Miguel's experience would outclass him. Canelo has solid fundamentals and a good amount of size, strength, and power to work with, and his timing is developing nicely, but he's still too raw. If Cotto were to press him against the ropes, Canelo would not know what to do, he hasn't shown a stylistic ability to defend going backwards or laterally. Given he's never seen that kind of physicality and power combined with accuracy before, I imagine his resolve start to thin out a bit and a shaken look on his face start to appear. Canelo's own pressure is efficient, but also predictable; I feel that in the center of the ring, Cotto's jab, followed up by combinations to the body and head, would find their way through and around his guard consistently, and Cotto's movement would be more than enough to turn and circle away before he chose to engage again. As the superior infighter and superior ring general, I'd pick Cotto to beat Canelo in a good fight but clear decision.

I think Cotto would stun him in the first round before Canelo gets into a groove and slowly breaks Cotto down in 9 rounds.

He is ready, and Cotto isn't as good a boxer as his team thinks.. That's why he worried himself sick in their against Mayweather, trying to box.. He waste too much energy bouncing around, and pressure boxers like he use to.

With that being said, it would be a fairly even scrap until the ref waves his hands in MC's bloody face late in the fight.

I've seen a few posts on this and most people seem to be picking Alvarez. Personally, I think Cotto would beat him on points in a very hard fought battle.

I think it would look very similar to the Clottey fight. Saul being pretty stationary while Cotto boxes around, but when Canelo decides to engage, he gets the better in a lot of the exchanges. Close decision for Cotto, but dependent on if he tries to slug it out with Canelo, which wouldn't be advisable.

Hard fight to figure. Cotto is very experienced and Canelo is bigger and stronger. I would pick Canelo to win that fight in a war. Fighting Mosley helped his experience a lot. That is a risk fight for Canelo, but a fight he could win. Canelo late round knockout.

On the face of it I don't think he is quite there yet...but there really isn't any fighters around that are going show if he is ready for that level.

Either they have to take a bit of a leap of faith or just avoid the risk.

My bias for Cotto makes the decision easy for who I think will take it...but if I do my best to block that out I don't reckon there is much in it really...Saul has got a lot of potential, certainly more than Junior.

This is probably the toughest fight to call out of the ones that have an actual chance of happening.

Gun to my head - Cotto. Better fundamentals. Better boxer, more paths to victory.

I think Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is ok as a fighter. He seems to have good physical strength and he inherited his dad's will to win. decent power.
His weakness looks like his head movement is slow and he plods around the ring when he is following his opponent. A quick right handed puncher will easily drop him.
Canelo for some reason reminds me of Matthew Hilton of the 1980s. Less of the left hook power, but quicker than Matthew I think.

Cotto. He's the better boxer of the two, more experienced, and most importantly he has one of the best jabs in the sport, while Alvarez doesn't use the jab well, tending to rely on his hooks. Canelo usually enjoys a pretty solid technical edge on his opponents that allows him to get away with mistakes, but the Gomez fight gave a good display of the flaws still in Canelo's game against a good boxer that Cotto can take advantage of to better effect with his superior athleticism.

I think he is an alright fighter...I like him actually but he wouldn't be where his is now if it wasn't for Arum and his father...he would probably have a couple of L's.
I could be wrong but I don't think there is really to much further to go in terms of growth for JCC jr.

The Canelo-Hilton comparison I can dig MAG...they are different in a few ways but there is enough the same to compare them...Matty in his prime let his hands go a bit more, but Saul could go down that path...both really sit on that left.
