Chavez is a legendary warrior but let's be real...Cotto would have beat him up @ 147 and everyone would of sed he beat up a guy who was past his prime (iv heard many say this about DLH when he fought Chavez).

People forget just who and what Miguel was about pre-Margo. The guy had better than ave ability, very good power and killer instinct. He was a relentless body puncher and had prob 1 of the best left hooks in the division. Watch his early fights and u will appreciate just what a talented boxer he was/is...

I dont think Cotto is good enought to beat him up but good enough to beat him, You have to remember chavez wouldnt be able to drop cotto with a single punch he didnt have enough power, cotto wouldnt be able to drop chavez because of chavez's chin. At 147 Cotto took some big punches from Mosley.

an aging mosley who didnt throw one punch to the body....now imagine a body attack mixed with a facelift of punches, :good

i dont think that people on here underrate chavez, or forget how good he is, i think most idiots just never seen him in his prime...i mean, lets be real, only a handful of posters on here have knowledge pre 2000 era....the rest are ****** *****s and *******s......

At 147, a Cotto victory wouldnt suprise me, but beat him up? Nah, if Cotto would win, it would definetly not be easy and he would go through all sorts of hell...Even tho he was passed it and didnt do much at 147, Chavez is still all wrong for Cotto.

An ageing Mosley hit harder than any version of chavez, When mosley fought cotto-in my opinion- Mosley's power didnt decline. I do remember how good chavez was and i strongly believe at 140 chavez wears cotto down and finishes him late, but at 147 cotto's durability improved and generally improved as a fighter but Chavez declined by the time he fought at welterweight. He went from being a great fighter to being a very good fighter just like cotto was and if they fought at 147 it would have been a small good fighter against a bigger good fighter.

margo didnt beat cotto cause he was bigger, he beat him due to his iron chin and relentless pressure......two things that chavez pretty much did as if it was 2nd nature to him, not to mention chavez's punches were a lot crisper and faster than margos....

i give cotto full credit for the judah, clottey and mosley bouts, but if any of those 3 would've gone to the body, it would've been a different story.....

chavez wasn't a small good fighter, he was a small GREAT fighter....so moving up a few pounds to fight cotto wouldn't be any different IMO cause what gives cotto problems is not SPEED, or POWER, it's PRESSURE

even when manny was landing at will on cotto in spurts it didnt really affect cotto until manny started pushing him back...cotto on the back foot is not the same cotto as cotto with his feet planted ready to throw blows.....

have you seen chavez's uppercuts followed by hooks to the body and head ???? he had some of the nastiest combos ever, and i just can't see cotto taking that for 12rds, even at welterweight cause there really is no size difference
