Cotto vs Clottey, a possible march fight.

Every time I have seen Clottey fight he always throws back when his oppenent starts to throw. The man loves to trade. So if Cotto does decide to 'let his hands go' to that open body you are talking about, well expect Joshua to rip some shots back. Except Clottey is going to get the better of the exchanges every time.

Then Cotto should fight Margarito...Or the man that beated Margarito, Paul Williams but not Joshua Cottey i mean wtf he is a very good fighter but not as good as the two i mentionned earlier.

 

yeah but anyone with half a ****ing brain could have realized that if Clottey did not hurt his hand (which he clearly did, I mean the guy just flat out stopped throwing punches from his left hand), he would have won that fight. It was still very close even after the hand injury and Margarito barely squeaked by. It was a great performance by Clottey despite the injury, and ulitmately showed how to beat Margarito which at that time everyone was avoiding like the plague. And to all the people claiming he 'doesnt have the heart' or 'goes into his shell' need to rewatch this fight to show how much ****ing balls the guy has got to fight on the last 6 rounds with one hand against Margarito and not quit. That is why I have an issue too, by the way, with some on here claiming he has no heart or desire. The guy has been fighting his whole life out of Ghana from the same gym that produced the likes of Ike Quartey and Azumah Nelson. He is no chump, or B- as some like to say, and this fight against Cotto will prove it if it happens. the last I checked though he is fighting an IBF eliminator tongiht on VS to take on a future fight with Kermit (which he wins that one too).

BTW, will you clowns stop harping on this lame "hurt hand" excuse. This is boxing, hands get hurt all the damn time. . . its a **** poor excuse. Margarito beat Clottey cause he was the better fighter that night.

 

Wow I never thought it was possible but I disagree with everything you wrote....or at least the the outcome. Maybe I'm Cotto nutthugger :huh naaaa Cotto would outclass Clottey in an action bout. Sorry but Cotto's in another league.

 

yeah but excuse or not it is still valid. He stopped throwing his left hand and ulitmatley cost him the fight. It doesnt matter though, if he rematches margarito he will win.

 

We will have to just wait and see. Im prepared to eat crow if clottey loses though, I really believe he will win. I doubt this fight is going to happen anytime soon. The last I read Clottey is fighting Cintron after his fight tonight. So by then Cotto will prolly be set up to face floyd.

 

blah blah blah, for having such a "severely" hurt hand he sure did have a quick turn around for his next fight with Chico and showed no signs of any hand injury.:deal

 

Only problem I see with Clottey is his lack of pure boxing ability....if forced to box on his toes he loses much of his fighting ways. Clottey is solid but lacks great movement and positioning he clearly needs to have his feet planted in order to attack effectively. Clottey gets into defensive shells and he is not extremely versitile. Clottey will most likely win tonight against Alvarez but it wont be easy, I would not be shocked if Shamone won a SD.

 

Didnt saw the fight by the way but he lost to Margarito, still despite a broken hand. Maybe he woulve won the fight otherwise but he didnt so he needs to get a few wins against good opposition to be considered worthy to fight Cotto IMO. If he beats Alvarez and then a guy like Collazo or something he should rematch Margarito. Even Alvarez would be enough to earn a rematch then if he beats him he can have his shot at Cotto.

No need to eat crow, this is boxing and its fought in the ring and not my us debating on fighters pro's and cons. On paper I just don't see Clottey winning but you never know. Fact is Joshua is world class and always keeps himself in tremendous condition. Can't knock that.

 

everytime cotto is up for a fight no one sees him winning . i definitely think this says something about the man and the opponents he faces.
