Could end up being shown delayed. They would save money just showing the fight and not paying Buncey and Kerr, simular to what they have done watch Donaire and Marquez.

This is just made up speculation Rob, does it really deserve its own thread?

    Marquez was shown live.

Pretty sure that if Setanta still exists, Cotto v Clottey will be live.
I couldn't care less about Pavlik v Mora, a joke fight IMO.

I dunno, it would make a lot of sense not to show it live. Think how much money they would save by not having Buncey and Andy in the studio. Plus all the technical and behind the scenes staff would not need to be brought in and paid.

An example is Five's late night sports output. They've shown Baseball, Basketball, NFL and Ice Hockey for years in a studio-once the crunch hit, BAM they didn't renew the contracts. NFL and Baseball are already gone, and the NBA and NHL will follow in a couple of weeks.

I don't think it would be worth it monetary-wise for Setanta to do a fancy 3 hour studio set for these US fights which are broadcast on Setanta Sports 2, which hardly anybody watches at shite o'clock in the morning and won't be repeated. Just save the money and do that hour long show.

Providing Setanta are still around by then of course.

how much money do you think andy and bunce get per fight?? 5k max???

and if setanta cant afford 10k we may aswell say good bye to boxing now!

But these fights i wouldnt watch live anyway, i normally only stay up for british fighters or superfights ie pac v pbf soon!! so id be happy with a re run although i do enjoy hearing from the pundits at the end!

Yeah, but as I mentioned its not just Bunce and Kerr that need paying. You'd be surprised how many people are needed for these studio shoots. Producers, directors, cameramen, sound techies, runners, editors, vt people, cleaners, make up artists etc. etc.

Normally this would be no problem, but with Setanta's financial difficulties at the mo it would make more sense to just simply have the one hour main event programme that will hardly need any of those people listed above than a studio show watched by a few thousand people in the middle of the night.

Fights without coverage are **** though.

I aren't that fussed for either of these two fights.

Cotto is entertaining but Clottey isn't my cup of tea.

Pavlik is perhaps the weakest middleweight champion since God knows when, up against yet another **** challenger.

Fair play to Setanta if they indeed don't get these fights..... even if it is for the wrong reasons!

Mounting a one-man crusade against Setanta isn't doing anybody any good :good

Wow we miss two crap fights. Maybe Setanta should stop ****ing about with **** overseas fights and pay more interest in British boxing.

I'd like to see Cotto-Clottey, but they can ditch that Pavlik fight. Another shitty defence from Pavlik. Fight AA ffs.

Yep, Pavlik-Mora doesn't interest me in the slightest. Cotto-Clottey is another matter though.....

    discussing individual fights is stupid

a contract exists between setanta and top rank which due to the drastic change in the rate of exchange between the queens finest and uncle sam means that setanta are geting nailed on all contracts aside from the hayemaker one

setanta are not in that bad a position however. ESPN were talking about taking over, sky considering returning their package and if push comes to shove they can go to looking at a voluntary revision of the contract. basically go to the bob father, sauerland and whatever golden boy options they have and say listen take this amount or we are going to be ****ed, and you will have no money and no source from which to show ur fights..........id hazard a guess that sauerland and top rank, with the multi million pound companys they are may even grant setanta a grace period. the money cant be worth that much to them and its a great way to showcase your fighters
