It seems Clottey will have to vacate his IBF title because he was due on February to face his mandatory challenger Issac Hlatshwayo. Clottey has until April 30 to reach a deal or the fight will head to a purse bid. Same thing happened last year when Margarito had to vacate the belt in order to face Cotto.
clottey will vacate. He needs fights like the cotto fight to build his image up. It will make sense financially. He will win too btw. And I have been saying this before the Cotto hype train was derailed. Funny, how after cotto got beat down all these supporters for clottey. I remember way back, prolly 2 years ago before clottey/margo, when I said he was better than a prime ike quartey. The IBF has specific language that states unification bouts take priority over mandos. Margo wasn't stripped before he fought Cotto. Arum made him agree to vacate that belt before the Cintron fight in the even that he won. I'm not sure what's going on here
