I remember watching this fight a couple of years back . It was an entertaining 12 rounder .

Both fighters held their own and fought their asses off .

As many of you already know the result to this fight was Miguel Cotto via split decision win .

After this fight there were a few that felt Clottey was robbed , there was a few that felt Clottey lost was legit .

I watched the fight but didnt score it IMO I felt the fight was a TOSS UP . It could've went to either fighter . I would have no problem if the decision went to Clottey .

With that being said , I would like to sit down one day and carefully score each round so I can have a better opinion of who was the better man that night .

ESB How did you score it ??

Im pretty sure I scored it 1 point in favour of Clottey at the time. I was surprised by that fight. And I don't think it's a styles thing; I just think they're on the same level, but Cotto is just a lot more loved so it can be overlooked if Clottey really beat him. Im definitely satisfied to call it a toss-up though. Very, very close fight.

Clottey won this fight hands down. He landed more punches, and was going forward the entire time. When you outland someone and press the action from round 1 - 12, you win the fight I don't care what anyone on here says. Please someone argue that.

Cotto won by a point with the knockdown. It was tuff for Cotto because of the early headbutt, had it not been for that I'm sure it would have been easier.

Really? The dude was running scared for his life rounds 1 - 12, and it would have been easier? Please... hard to imagine how people are fans of Cotto. Was a good day seeing Pacman destroy him.

There was a couple of late rnds Clottey gave away to a visibly tired Cotto when he chose not to engage , not to mention he suffered a knockdown in the very first rnd .

That def did not help his chances of winning on the scorecards .

Funny, I did not see Cotto attempting to engage the entire ****ing fight.
    And he still got outlanded.

I had it 114-113 for Cotto, but won't argue with the same score for Clottey. It was a very close fight.

    Horse****.

the thing is, you can't be absolute in believing that either fighter won or lost.

it was a close fight with a lot of close rounds.

When I watched it live without scoring it I saw Clottey getting the better of it. When I watched it and scored it I had Cotto by one point, even though Clottey was winning his rounds with more authority. But, that's not how you score a fight. You go by the ten point must system, and I had Cotto winning that by a coochie hair. If Clottey didn't take his foot off the gas at just the wrong times he could have conceivably gotten the ref to step in at one or two points there. But he's not wired that way. So, there you have it.
