I watched the Cotto vs Margarito countdown show on HBO and I have known for a while that Cotto and his uncle did not get along to well. But I do not know why can anyone explain what caused the rift between them, on the HBO show they showed the time Cotto's brother had a fight in the ring with his uncle causing Miguel to intervene. What caused that and was this the cause of them not getting along?
Down here in PR people say its because uncle Cotto doesnt like Miguel's lifestyle out of the ring, etc etc.
I think Evangelista might have slept with Cottos mother, or something like that. What else could separate family? Money problems, I doubt it whatever it was I bet its something big.
money problems might just be it too! after the gomez fight cottos cutman said he wanted more money then cotto told him to **** off maybe same scenario could be happening here.
I would've told him to **** off too :yep Honestly, how much work did Cotto's cut man do during the Gomez fight? Then he asks for more money? :nono
From what I've read, it's simply due to Cotto's out of ring lifestyle. I'm sure his trainer was probably trying to tell Cotto to stay focused in between fights, etc...They both seem to have very serious, cold personalities. But this has been going on for quite some time. So i dont see this as a huge factor, especially considering that after every fight, Cotto gives his uncle a huge hug and kiss offering his apologies. Now, the day I see Cotto not show his uncle the same kind of love after a fight, then I would be worried. Lastly, I'm sure HBO was just trying to hype up the situation to add a bit of drama to the fight.
Here is an excerpt from an interview with Evangelista Cotto.... But Evangelista also has another answer for those commentators, reporters and internet speculators who wish to stir stories that his relationship with Miguel is not solid. "Miguel and I have very similiar characteristics. We are both very serious and at times people think we annoy or bother each other. It seems to have been presented to various people as though to leave a bad impression without actually knowing what is happening. But here what counts is dedication and how it is applied here. Also, look how much he has matured in the 32 fights he has had". As things are, Cotto resumes working as cool and relaxed as ever, in what could be a sign of another great victory, this time before a 5'11" boxer, strong willed and determined. "We'll be doing some low-intensity workouts to sweat and maintain the weight until Friday arrives. Until then, we are very much already prepared and ready to go".
as small as puerto rico is cottos whereabouts arent hard to know hes been spotted in many clubs and pubs and is usually quiet. Im not making this up Ive hanged out w/people that have hung out w/him. Now his problem w/uncle/trainer is personal and has been like that for years! nothing new so the outcome of the fight will have nothing to do with they're feud!
