Oscar looks old and is showing in his fights, and Cotto is younger and a RELENTLESS body punisher with very fast hands. Oscar is done if he fights Cotto, he will take a beating.

Neither Cotto or Margarito would be able to Box with Oscar.
They would have to knock him out to win. (Won't happen)

I can understad if De La Hoya looked like **** in his previous fight's...
but to be honest Oscar has been in the mix of everyone of his fight's even
his defeats. If a prime Trinidad could not Touch Oscar, I doubt a Cotto can.
(even at this stage)

 

Maybe about five years ago it would've been considered a pickem fight, but at this point in Oscars career. I'd have to go with Cotto by mid to late stoppage. If "2 Pounds" Steve Forbes could do a number on Oscars face. Can you imagine what Cotto would do to it? Plus you have to factor Oscar's stamina issues into the equation. The one thing I can give Oscar if this fight were to happen, and this is the only thing. That would be his left hook, but if Cotto gets past AM without being knocked down or seriously hurt. Then that small chance. Would then be even smaller in my eyes. Since Cotto's chin should have been shown to be sturdy enough after July 26th.

Let's not forget Forbes also took some great punches that most other fighters would have taken different. Who know's for sure if Cotto can take one of those 45' degree upper's well? He has defo been hurt before and by smaller guys.

I'd like to watch this one either way.

Cotto beats DLH.

It would be a bit dangerous for Cotto at some stages but DLH tires and Cotto can bank on that. He can make DLH come to him the first few rounds and force DLH to use that rotator cuff. DLH's best punch, the left hook, will likely be blocked by Cotto's split guard throughout.

DLH is mostly a flashy headhunter these days. He doesn't spend a lot of time going downstairs and he doesn't have the energy to mantain over 10-12 rounds.

 

That is true, but that's part of the reason why I mentioned Steve Forbes in the first place. You are correct that he did take some good licks, and kept on coming till the finish line (going all 12rds). He just didn't and doesn't have the "POP" to answer back, and that became pretty obvious early on. Which Oscar was lucky in that case. There was no serious threat of him being knocked on his ass, and that's why Steve was in the ring with Oscar in the first place.

Oscar picked Forbes so that he could look good. In order to create a build up for DLH Vs FMJ II and he looked far from good. I'll give you a couple of recent example of fighters being put in the ring together in order to create buzz and look good. For present or future fights.

Margarito vs Cintron, Cotto vs Gomez, and Pavlik vs Lockett.....They all fought inferior opponents, but they got them out of the ring, and looked impressive doing so. Regardless if the hardcore boxing fan enjoyed these fights or not. They were put together for the general casual or none boxing fan. To get that buzz and for the most part it worked.

Now I wouldn't mind seeing this fight either. Just because it could be a passing of the torch or Oscars one last stand at the O.K Caral, but if I have to go by right now, and what I've seen of Oscar recently. Cotto wins if they ever meet in the ring. On a side note Cotto vs AM will also factor into my decision in the future too, and I'm sure it'll play into Oscars as well.
