I sure as hell dont want to see this fight, but feel that its coming so lets break it down.

Obviously Cotto will have a significant youth and activity advantage over Oscar. Also, he should hold a stamina advantage over DLH. Yet, I still think Oscar has a good opportunity to win the fight on two accounts:

    1. Cotto will be in front of DLH all night. DLH cant deal well at this point in his career with movement and athleticism. He cannot waste energy trying to find his man, and Cotto is not a man he will need to find.

    2. More importantly, DLH posseses a sharp left hook and counterpunches well with it. In Cotto's most vulnerable fight, against Torres, he repeatedly traded left hooks with Torres who incidentaly also had a sharp, powerful left hook. I would expect Cotto to do the same with Oscar, because his left hook has gotten him this far, and you dont change course when you are a young undefeated fighter.

I still dont feel confident picking Oscar in the fight, but I know I wont take Cotto by blowout which some posters here seem to think will come to pass.

What do you think of the fight, and WHY?

At 154, I would go with Oscar. Too damn big for someone like Cotto, who is just getting used to 147.

Also, Cotto has next to no defense. All the fighters that beat DLH had good defense.

If DLH fades late Cotto may have a chance. But Cotto may fade late as well, and may decide to box after spending half a fight trading punches with DLH.

Cotto said he wants to end his career at 147lbs. He has no intent in moving up in weight, he really wouldn't carry 154lbs very well at all. I mean look at him his move from 140-147 was 100% complete transformation..he bulked up A LOT from those 7lbs. 154lbs will be way too much.

DLH also has a size advantage.

And judging from the Mayweather fight he still seemed to have kept most of his hand speed and strength. The biggest decline that was most apparent to me is that DLH's stamina was at it's worst for that fight. He would only throw combinations in spurts, and there was certain rounds where he had little to no activity at all. I haven't seen the Mayweather/DLH fight in some time but if I remember correctly DLH did hardly anything during the 11th and 12th rounds, which is when DLH usually starts to turn it up and try to close the show out in his favor.

$$ talks for DLH. If DLH wants more which is the only reason he still boxes, he can weight drain himself to 147lbs. I honestly think Cotto doesn't give a ****.

    You havent followed DLH then.

DLH moves down for nobody, especially an up and coming fighter. For better or worse (and usualy for worse), he calles the shots.

ODLH pulls the upset in this one. Cotto can't handle Oscar's punching power. This an incredibly interesting fight.

Cotto doesnt strike me as the type to choose money over legacy. He is intent with ruling the 147 lb. division for years to come.

He said himself that if none of the big fights happen he is happy with fighting Paul Williams. Not many would call out someone like Paul Williams in Cotto's position.

For the first time I agree with you.

Shane moved up 2 divisions to fight him.

Bernard stayed at 160lbs waiting for him.

Floyd eyed a fight with him for years.

Gatti walked toward certain slaughter and moved up to fight him.

Winky has been calling him out for years.

Trinidad has been thinking of coming out of retirement for years to fight him again.

So... What makes Cotto so different?

After all, the man has bills to pay and kids to feed (and seemingly lots of them). :yep
