Not official but Dan Rafael of ESPN.com has said that there was talk of making this fight happen. I think it would be great for Cotto to finish his career with another title in yet another weight class. I think this could set up yet another huge fight for Cotto as well. there are many people who have written Cotto off and there's alot of talent at or around 154 lbs. Should Cotto fight and win then I could see him getting set up with another huge PPV fight ...
We haven't seen Cotto's patented body attack as much as in the past. I think with this fight, we will see him go back to that. Foreman runs a lot, but with Cotto cutting off the ring and punishing his body, it should slow down Foreman's ability to turn this into a track meet. Cotto by decision.. or maybe/hopefully a TKO stoppage after a brilliant left hook to the body...
I see this as a tougher then expected fight for cotto, and also dont expect him to wear 154lbs very well.
I don,t see cotto being so effective in this weight, and to think of it I think if Cotto trains harder he probably can make 140 easy.
Don't wanna see it. Would rather see Cotto vs Margarito 2, the post-suspension and post handwrap-controversy bout, in that very same MSG. Now that, me and the team would attend. Cotto vs Foreman we'd probably watch at somebody's house.
Any Cotto fight should be bought on PPV, Fans like you...most cancerous to boxing. Cotto is a top 5 most exciting fighter in the sport today.
I can see this, he said he only wants two more fights, so why not? A belt in a third weight class is cool, I won't object.
agreed and good post. cotto is short for the weight but he's still draining himself to make 147. he might just be a qwai: short, stock power. let him move up to 154, beef up become more solid and walk down yuri. i'd go to new york to see this in a heartbeat
its fans like u that ruin boxing, cotto is and always has been good at best never great like everyone here spoke about him, hes a plodder who doesnt move well and has terrible endurance and his power is overrated at ww, i called all of this before the margarito fight before the clottey fight and again before the paquaio fight, cotto should not be a ppv fighter, hes never even been a legit lineal champ in any division just merely a trinket holder
Let me get this straight..your saying a 2 weight world champion, who has a whole country behind him, with wins over Mosley, Clottey, Judah, Malignaggi, Quintana etc shouldn't be a PPV fighter? The guy style is exciting, at one time he was an unstoppable Welterweight machine. The guy was made to headline PPV's!
agreed he's always ( as far as i remember) won belts in eliminators but he is a great fighter and has brought a lot of excitement and fanbase to 140 and 147 over the years. Not quite HOF quality yet but he's an asset to the sport, despite his flaws
