I think the popularity of a 3rd place contender winner who was on the show a few years back was really overated on these boards. No one cared.

This has nothing to do with Floyd. Why even bring him up?

What free fight before Oscar? You mean the Baldo fight that did 325K in buys or the Zab fight that did 375K in buys?

Please note, we have PBF vs. Cotto threads everyday on this site. This thread is about the bad state of the sport and the fact that Arum shoved this piece of **** headliner down boxing throats and fans responded by throwing it up.

Well, it's all about how much more Floyd can do to Cotto than Cotto could do to Floyd. I doubt Floyd could be more effective with his potshotting, low output style at 147 than Cotto with his technical pressure/swarming and power jab.

What matters is that we both agree that the fight should be made as soon as possible and the longer the wait is, the worse it is for Floyd. I'm not going to argue about Arum and all that. PBF taking a DLH rematch is disgraceful and if he wanted a fight with Cotto, it would happen.

Alright, I'll stop. :D It's sad to see that Cotto, one of the most exciting fighters in the world got such low numbers on HBO. It's more because he was fighting Gomez than anything else, but it's still dissappointing because someone like Pac could get nice ratings against a C level on regular HBO.

thats true , in P.R. boxing is huge and it can get the front covers of the newspapers. But being a boxing fan i feel sad when i look to espn for some boxing results and found none, only Nascar and Golf :-(

the thing is that right now its NBA (and to a lesser extent NHL) playoff time. People are watching basketball. in Canada, hockey is getting all the viewers, even though Calzaghe vs Hopkins was broadcast live across the country on regular cable TV.

It was a sparring session for Cotto and a nightmare for Gomez. Jim Lampley said that it was a terrific night for who likes violence and I suppose he was not referring to Alfonso.

I think that by the way that boxing is being promoted right now, people only care about the "big" fights.

Yes, Floyd loses to one of the boxers with one of the worst defenses in the sport. Right... Right..
