Hahaha...you are a funny guy. I like how try and make these guys sound much better than they are. Urkal went the distance with Tsyzu in 2001, that's 7 years ago, had a close fight with Harris in 2004, and then got dominated and stopped in the rematch in 2004. His two fights before fighting Cotto were against a guy who was 1-9 and 2-4-1. The 2007 version of Urkal sure sounds world-class to me....Malignaggi was undefeated when he fought Cotto, however before facing Cotto, he had no one of note on his ledger (just a couple of east coast prospects), let alone athechampionship belt he won (after fighting Cotto) against fringe top-10 contender Lovermore Ndou, more famous for being Tsyzu's main sparring partner. Plus his resume post-Cotto isn't spectacular. Beating Cherry, a natural 135 pounder is nothing special (as he is just a top 10 contender at 135), and many people thought he lost to another young prospect in Ngoudjo in his last fight.

As for Gomez. He beat an undefeated Manfredo (who went on to become a top 15 SMW and be competitive with Jeff Lacy), Kaddour (undefeated prospect), Brinkley (MW prospect at the time), Gatti (top-10 welterweight at the time), and Tackie (a Top 15 welterweight). I would say Gomez's resume easily trumps Urkal's (especially the 2007 version of Urkal) and most definitely trumps Malignaggi's pre-Cotto resume of the ever-so elite Donald Camarena and Jeremy Yelton (who???), not to mention his post Cotto resume of Ndou, Cherry and Ngoudjo. You can argue that Manfredo, Brinkley, Kaddour, Gatti and Tackie are all better and bigger fighters than Ndou, Cherry and Ngoudjo fairly easily. Case closed. Go back to school.

Manfredo made SIGNIFICANT improvements after being on the contender. Everyone knows that. Regardless even with improvement his claim to fame was losing to Mora again, getting thrashed by JC and getting beaten by a VERY SUB PAR LACY. Hardly the stuff champions are made of. Brinkley and kaddour are rubbish nobodies, just like people on Malignaggis record before he fought Cotto. The difference is since then that Malignaggi has defeated good opposition, where as Gomez has defeated guys who should have retired 3 years ago. Go back to school? Your kidding yourself. How about I run a poll regarding who is the harder opponent: Malignaggie or Gomez and we see the results. Or how about who has the better resume. Your the only delusional fan boy here who thinks this, no one else. Your trying to promote some crap 5 round wins against totally unproven guys as being good wins. Its total horse ****. What about Gomez's draw to the crap B level Feceliano, or his loss to Manfredo? Notice how your not talking about those fights. You have dead set lost the plot. Avatar bet for 3 months that Cotto knocks him out before the seventh round... Deal?

    hold up peeps
gomez is as my grandad would say "one tough cookie"

what makes him seem mismatched against cotto?

his opposition has been fantastic no padding what so ever. a natural welter/lightmiddle who has been fighting guys who contend at super-middle or light heavy like brinkley or manfredo (manfredo fought supermiddelwieght king calzaghe then lost a very dodgy decision to lacy.
punches to the body well witha good left hook to the body and a right cross and a decent jab (far better than cotto's at least)
knocked out gatti who was known for an iron jaw and iron will who maybe at the end of his career was stopped by a single punch after getting pummled all way through.
gomes has only lost to people with speed and technical skill. cotto as good as he is, is nowhere near a sugar ray clay jones jr. he also just gone the distance in a one sided bout with ben tackie

underdog as he is he is no fool and no bum as you poeple are making him out to be

his main problem is cuts and swellings that just seem to make an appearance in every fight

Brinkley and Khaddour were better and bigger prospects than anyone on Malignaggi's pre-Cotto record. You can't judge his post-Cotto fights, as they aren't relevant.

I don't care about polls, 90% of the posters here have no true understanding of boxing, nor have they boxed, and are primarily groupies.

Feliciano isn't crap, no professional fighter at that level is crap, he's a tough guy (but by no means elite at all) that just gave Cintron hell in his last bout. Gomez isn't someone great, but he is better than Urkal and his resume is better than Malignaggi's (pre-Cotto for sure) and he will be competitive. I don't have an avatar to bet, that's childish anyway.

I highly doubt that Cotto knocks him out before the 7th round, ih couldn't get Urkal or Judah out of there by then. I pick Cotto to win a tough UD.
