    A good mythical match up.

    A lot of factors.

If Hatton can even get away with a little of his holding and hitting. I'd say he wins. Specially faster. If he is fully allowed. Like this takes place in England. He wins easily.

Fair ref, fair place. I'd favor Hatton but he'd have to finish the fight early on or other wise he would be taking too many shots by then.

I know. These days it is easy to say Cotto would have taken him but back then after PBF moved up they were the stand out two at 140 and most people wold probably have favoured Hatton due to his form coming in, hadn't really been hurt yet and Cotto had been hurt bad against Corley and Torres.

LOL to anyone who said it goes any other way than a KO for Cotto. . . well in '06 Cotto was already starting to struggle with weight so maybe that would've made it more competitive but before '06 Cotto was a beastly 140.

Cotto would have outexchanged Hatton with his far superior combination punching. Hatton has always been too reliant on lunging with singular shots, and doesn't have the raw one punch power to stop Cotto in that fashion.

It would be a good competitive fight but the younger more aggressive version of Cotto would slowly get the better of Hatton and probably stop him late. A ridiculous home town ref would certainly help Hatton's cause though.

It would have been a brutal fight, but I think Hatton could have been the first fighter to break Cotto's heart if they'd fought in 2006 at 140 lbs. At that time Hatton was literally walking through opponents punches and at 140 he could well have been able to take a weight drained Cotto the distance, and possibly even stopping him in the later rounds.

Its so easy now for people to say Cotto would have destroyed Hatton etc. But dont forget, Hatton was at his peak, fresh and formidable at 140 lbs in 2006.

So, a good competitive fight and in all honesty, maybe too close to call.

Its fascinating to see "fans" cling on to Rickys socalled glory years at 140 as though he was actually that good. It wouldnt matter if this fight was at 10lbs or a 1000lbs. Styles make fights. Ricky gets demolished even more viciously than Pac did it.

Cotto is way too good. Way too technical for Hatton. Hatton would get brutalized.

Would've been a big fight for Hatton, meaning he will struggle and most likely lose. Even with Cotto struggling with weight, he was still dominant and victorious and power was more evident in this weight for him. His recovery is very fast when hes hurt and we all know what happends after. Cotto is superior to any of Hattons skills except for the wrestling tactics:good

    I picked Cotto by points.

Hatton had a solid chin back then and took everything Tszyu (bigger puncher than Cotto) had to give and the like of Malignaggi went the distance with Cotto so i would favour Hatton to last the distance but i just feel Cotto is that bit more skilled than Hatton. Although with Cotto being weight drained and Hatton at his combo punching, non clinching, constant head and foot movement whirlwind style he had back then had every chance of breaking Cottos heart
