Thank you, Reg. Any suggestion that Williams should dump his belt and try to get ranked by another organization to chase a fight with a man he already beat is crazy.

 

Hopefully it will be a good fight and Jennings last the full twelve as a brit I would like to see him do well. I am also amazed that some people after the margarito fight believed cotto didn't have heart and will he come back the same boxer. He lost to marg who can withstand shots from the hardest punchers like cintron, so their is no disgrace in that.

This fight is a total ****ing scam. Jennings was Williams' mando and HBO rejected the fight. HBO also rejected a fight with Rodriguez for Williams. So with basically no legit welters available for Williams, HBO forced him up to 154 to fight Phillips. Allegedly, Williams couldn't get ranked by the IBF(smells like bull****) so they created the WBO interim title(Why? The WBO champ at 154 is not incapacitated). With the WBO interim 154 title on the line, Williams was forced to drop his Welter strap. So now, not only does Arum get to purchase another paper title for Cotto(this would be his third vacant title compared to no legit belts), but he also gets Williams out of the picture.

And check this out, Margo was named the WBA super champ(blatant dissregarding of the rules on that one. You need to be a unified champ to get that designation from the WBA) not too long ago, and doesn't have to make a mando defense for 18 months(not that it matters, Cotto went a over a year without making a mando defense). So now Top Rank will have control over 3 of the 4 belts and can pretty much dictate the division(this means that Paul Williams will not be returning to 147).

Garbage fight for Cotto, but i don't know nothing about Jemmings, if he whorse than Soto Karas, are they are the same level or a litle better, I metions Soto Karas because he was one of the candidates, and at least with soto Karas stile would make cotto more prepared for Margo in the rematch.

 

Who's Williams fighting at 154 to vacate his 147 title? This might be a good comeback fight for Cotto, but it doesn't sound like much of a title fight.

 

From what little I've seen from Jennings, he seems like a come foward fighter with little in the way of power or defense. So you tell me what you think is going to happen. It looks like Cotto is getting fed a nice set-up so that he can collect another paper title on his way to a rematch with Margo.

 

Williams will be fighting Verno Phillips for the 154 lb. WBO interim title. Now why there's a WBO JMW interim title when the WBO JMW champ just fought less than two weeks ago and isn't even hurt is beyond me.
