Cotto is moving back down to 154. Kirkland is never in a boring fight. This is going to be a good summer for boxing folks.

I'd love to see Kirkland beat Cotto into retirement. Cotta picking on what he thinks is another shot fighter like the predator that is, maybe it'll backfire on him this time.:D

Cotto shatters his glass jaw, come on man... Don't let your dislike for Cotto blind you, this is a guy with one of the weakest chins in the game.

If Kirkland gets with Ann Wolfe again, he'll be unstoppable, those two are magic together.:deal

Would they actually pay Cotto his usual huge purse to fight someone like James T Kirkland?

It's true that fights with Kirkland in them are never dull, but really?!

HBO has approved Canelo vs Khan for a PPV this should at least make prime time Saturday night.

Kirkland is going to have to pick himself off the floor to win this.

And Cotto has never been legitimately stopped in my mind ( Margo was using plaster; Manny got a mercy stoppage).

It would be great if James succeeds, because Cotto has turned into a jerk.

Another "mega fight" because it's 2 names you've heard of before.:rofl
No shortage of people dumb enough to buy the PPV either

How is Kirkland even relevent any more? Don't get me wrong I was always a fan of of his relentless come forward brawling style, but he's fought exactly 3 times in the last 4 years and lost 2 of them. He's also packing some serious china in there. People still know his name and I suppose potentially he could be a threat to an opponent who got particularly sloppy or careless, but I no longer really view him as a legitimate contender.

That said, should be an exciting fight, and actually not so terrible as a comeback fight for Cotto.

    Really?
Cotto is going to beat sh*** out of him. Way more skilled. Decent enough power to cause Kirkland trouble and he might be past his best but still a bit left in the tank.

Cotto back in my city. Can't wait and guaranteed entertaining.Only bummer is the fight will be in Brooklyn due to a concert down the street at the Gardens.Oh well,a 15 minute subway to Barclay's isn't the end of the world.

Should be entertaining. Cotto should hang em up though. His best is behind him. Kirkland too, for that matter. Can't be mad at him for collecting a fat check, I guess.
