    1. Lee is fighting Quillin, done deal.
    2. Cotto won't fight a healthy middleweight next, if ever.

Wouldn't be too worried about Andy "draining" to 155 anyway.

Hes fought at that weight quite recently

Bad fight for cotto financially, physically, stylistically, and really does nothing for his career.

You think I need to be a hater to find it amusing that the lineal champion would avoid the obvious top middleweight (the elephant in the room being GGG) who is the real heir to the middleweight throne and who repeatedly calls him out, to choose the perceived weak link and then have it backfire?

I need to be a Cotto hater to chuckle if that happened?

I have rooted for Cotto in all but maybe 3 fights in his career but Im a hater because I don't defend dodging rightful challengers in easy to make fights no matter who it is and are glad when the cherry picks backfire.

    Sure

You must be a pretty big Cotto 'fan' to get so sensitive about the comment.

Is there a source that this is happening? I don't believe Cotto would take this fight. Lee is too dangerous for him.

Lee has signed to fight Quillin.
Kid Undercard and he will be returning on the Garcia - Peterson card.

Has Cotto not earned enough good will with boxing fans not to see him leave on a stretcher? I'm a fan of both fighters and I'd hate to see that happen.

If Cotto wasn't a payday, I doubt Golovkin would even be bothered about fighting him, regardless of the lineal title, you don't see many guys that bothered about fighting Ward or Rigondeaux so I think fans overrate what boxers actually think of the lineal title

All this talk of what Cotto 'deserves' because of his career.

I don't see what is so hard for some 'boxing fans' (if they are actually boxing fans, more likely just fighter groupies) to understand,

    - When you are in control of a title, ESPECIALLY a divisions lineal title, you don't get a pass for ducking the other fighters who have a rightful shot at their divisions crown.

    That idea is simply absurd.

Now, if Cotto drops the belt, and uses his big name to continue in big fights with whoever he chooses, then by all means... without a belt he isn't held to any standard and has every right to fight who he wants at that point. That, is what he has earned with his career, the ability to make millions fighting whoever he picks at this point. I would be all for Cotto vs Lee if Cotto dropped his belt and let the deserving fighters who have been waiting and waiting and waiting for their shot, the chance to fight for it.

Cotto is big enough he doesn't need any title. Any fight he chooses is going to sell out and be a ratings hit. He could drop the title and would have no obligations to fight anyone.

But, when he won the title, he took on the responsibility of fighting his rightful, true challengers.... and as long as Golovkin is still in the division, and still destroying top 10 middleweights one after another, he is the only guy Cotto should be fighting. (Hell, Golovkin was due a shot at lineal before Cotto even arrived in the division)

Want to fight whoever you want? Don't have a lineal title.

Want to be called 'The Middleweight Champion' and 'The Man' of the division? Then you man up and fight your challenger.
