Cotto vs Margarito 2 possible for June 09

    According Arum Cotto will fight in early 09 and should both fighters win their respective matches they may face each other in June.

    I don't know what Cotto can do differently to win. Maybe train to clinch Margarito more? Train to waste less energy by pivoting better instead of constantly having to run? I think it would be another L for Cotto.

    I think Cotto may be able to beat Tony in a second fight, but I think it would take way too much out of him. I came away from the fight thinking, "my god Cotto boxed brilliantly", but Tony's chin is rediculous. And his determination that night was too much to overcome.

    Probably best for Cotto to just move on at this point. That being said, I would gladly pay to see them do it again. Remember, its easier to stay hungry when your fighting for the belt than it is when your on top.

    Well for starters he can not stay on the ropes. He can try to fight in the pocket and not try to stay on his toes the entire fight. He can change up his guard so that he is not so succeptible to the upper cuts like the one that busted up his nose and obstructed his breathing.

    So yeah he can do a few things differently.

    It would be another epic fight. In order for Cotto to win he has to be smart and clinch when Margo is within range to unload his uppercuts. Instead of moving away from him so much just clinch him.
    If Cotto wins we would probably get a trilogy!

    I think Cotto has a shot. He needs to change trainers though. He's got this crazy loyalty to someone he's paying to show up and mull about as Cotto trains himself.

    Cotto is a better boxer than Margarito, he should play to his strenghs and not get drawn in, maybe he gassed, maybe he lost concentration but there is no way he's got to slug it out to win. round 1-6, do that, for the whole fight. Marg has been beat but we'll see if cotto wants it more this time.

    Why? it was working wasn't it? he was landing some very good shots, just seemed disheartened at Margos ability to take em. Cotto shoudn't go for the KO, I think he could UD him, of course Margo is relentless, but can you see him winning if he slugs it? Neither can i.

    Cotto loses any day to Margo.

    he cant hurt him and he doesnt have the stamina to stay away for a full 12 rounds.

    Yeah, maybe get some lessons from Toney on how to fight in close quarters and not get hit.

    It was working?Are you blind,he got KOed trying to box him,he would be a complete idiot to go in there with the same gameplan.If he can't brawl him,he can't win.Boxing failed
