Margarito will most likely win by KO. Cotto doesn't have the stamina to outbox him for 12 rounds. I think he should train in some high mountain tops to work on his stamina.
There must be something about Margarito that makes opponents who got roughed up and stopped by him think they can win rematches. Kermit Cintron thought he was going to beat Margarito in a second go around, it didn't work out for him..
First of all, virtually every fighter who has ever been in the ring with Margarito has "outboxed" him if not for the first half of the fight - throughout the duration. Secondly, that wasn't even the best Margarito we've seen. Even Kermit Cintron said after the fight that he wondered why Margarito "went so easy" on Cotto from the outset. Thirdly, do you remember why Cotto took the knees and effectively opted out? He talked about "wanting to enjoy his family" and "not wanting to risk his life." Cotto didn't almost make it, according to him he almost didn't make it. :tomb
I don't know if Cotto can beat margo in a rematch but some thing's he would need to change IMHO. This content is protected Consider getting a trainer This content is protected Train at Altitude in Colorado (or elswhere high) to help his endurance. This content is protected Go to the body (as you mentioned), he didn't really at all, whereas Margo did thoughout the fight effectively. What I thought Cotto would do. This content is protected Clinch more (as you said) This content is protected There were many time in the fight where he would hit Margo and cause him to pause and reset, I don't recall once in the fight where he pressed the attack off his front foot at those times. he was always fighting off the back foot moving. He has to press MArgo and see if he can make him back up at those times, or at lease press and hit him going forward to maximize his power, preferably with body work. This content is protected Re: the above even though Cotto was landing he was fighting off the back foot, not setting down on his punches, always escaping. Not breaking up Margo's rythem. Again IMHO , he may not win but, I think those changes would help his chances . Both guys are good fighters and class acts
If cotto had better endurance/defense, he would've won the fight...When he tired, his defense let up. It's hard to fight a guy like margo who doesn't give you any breaks, but if cotto is properly prepared, he will win.
He landed every single punch he could ask for the first time and it didn't even stun Margarito, he will need to box him, hold when close and not be too wide open with his back on the ropes. He needs to avoid the punches Margarito throws and counters with his own, if he lacks the stamina to AT LEAST avoid enoug damage for the first 7 rounds then he will fade again from the punishment late. Hoping to see Cotto there with a new gameplan, if he fights the same one he will lose and lose earlier.
Margo landed lot's of nasty body shot's and uppercuts that's what slow him down didn't you see his face at the end(bloody)i guess it was because he was on his toes the entie fight he got beatdown.
He can't brawl with Margo it won't work. Think most of us agree on that. I outlined what I thought may change the outcome for Cotto above. Going to war perse with Margo isn't one of them.
He was getting his ass kicked from start, the fact that he was fresher made it that he was landing cleaner shots.Don't you get it,Margarito want's him to box so he can break him down. And why did he stop moving?
Well, with this rematch in mind we know now that Baldomir is certainly a good candidate if only for the fact that he's extremely durable and will give Cotto 12 rounds of solid work to prepare him for Margarito.
Agree and i think the other day he just said that he wanted to fight him or Margo so he will be up for it.
Cotto/Margorito I was a bit like Pavlik/Taylor I in the respect that the man who was winning the boxing match was losing the fight! If there is a rematch, Cotto needs to stay off the ropes, try to stay in the pocket and box on the inside. Throw quick combos, and tie Tony up as soon as he's done punching. Avoid letting Tony find his range, and figure out how to stop those uppercuts.
