he stopped moving to exchange with Margo and thats when he took most of the punishment. see, Cotto tried to brawl with Margarito already but it never worked because he cant hurt him.

why are you gonna keep exchanging fire with your enemy when your attack isnt affecting them?

Cotto needs to box, pick his shots and stay away. i still say he loses that way though because his stamina isnt that good to keep away from Margo for 12 rounds.

Would love to see a rematch and I think if Cotto does a few things differently he can win the second time around.

Exactly,Margarito made him stop boxing, that was his plan, breaking him mentally.by the time Cotto stopped boxing he was already exhausted.Cotto was like:''**** boxing ain't working and I can't land anything big anyway, the **** I am gonna do now''.Don't you see boxing with Margarito doesn't work(for Cotto). If he tries to box and the guy makes him brawl it's clearly the boxing ain't working

We disagree then, it's cool. I do think Cotto running and fighting off the back foot (a la mayweather) actually gave Margo the range he needed, especially when moving back to the ropes.

Lets say he just goes at Margo on the front foot and bombs away. Cotto certainly has to go after margo's body, something he didn't do in their fight. Do you think Cotto win's a battle of Chins, Cotto's is good margo's is great.

Another thing all of us keyboard guys don't know. Maybe in the ring Margo was just too strong physicaly for Cotto, and he decided to box. None of us was in there so we can't know that. Ever work with someone, or be around someone who was just strong physically and maybe didn't look it, yet there like a fireplug, your amazed how strong they really are.

for the most part i agree.

he loses either way in the rematch if he boxes and especially tries to brawl with Margarito, thats just suicide.

Like I said above, he has to box differently (if he can), and work on endurance. I don't see going to war working.

He didn't start to box cuz Margo made him box, boxing was the gameplan which didn't work. You are saying he should box him again, very well he will get KOed again.

    Hey JM,

I made a post on page 3, (also on pg 4 in reponse to Thunder) where I stated what I thought Cotto maybe should/could do to maybe change the outcome. Not saying it will work, because Margo is tough obviously, and may be just the wrong guy for Cotto.

But read my post I think I outlined it.

    Regards

Very exciting news. Definitely think Cotto can get the victory this time if he just changes his tactics a little. A lot of what he did in the first 6 rounds was very good and at that stage he was clearly ahead. Just keep away from the ropes,a bit more defensive work and maybe better cardio and the fight could be his. The Margarito that turned up for the last fight was a bit of a phenomenon and its debateable whether he will be able to replicate that performance again. On some nights certain fighters are unbeatable and i think that was the case with Margarito that night.
