COTTO VS MARGARITO II Will Be STOPPED in the Early Rounds

I don't see any reason to think the rematch will be much different than the first fight, except for one thing. The added weight favors Margarito. Margo had a notable size advantage at 147. At 154 the size difference will be even more pronounced, and unlike Cotto, Margarito fought well above 147 as far back as the late 90's.

Both fighters are on the backside of their respective careers. Neither is "shot," but neither is "prime." It looks to me like the decline is about equal.

Cotto is obsessed with the hand wrap issue. When he starts getting hit, and his face starts busting up just like the first time, he will have a serious problem make the necessary mental adjustment while Margarito puts non-stop pressure on him.

In my opinion there is a very good chance that Cotto will take an awful beating. Of course anything can happen in boxing. Miquel may pull this off, but that is not what I expect.

 

You may be right. But, I hope not.

Although I do want to see Cotto win, I want it to be because he was the better fighter on the night. Not because of a stoppage due to previously sustained damage.

The undercard does make me wet.

 

Who is on the undercard?

 

I think its clear to the vast majority of people that Cotto is the superior boxer while Margo has the edge as a fighter, its what makes this bout so intrigueing, let's add the fact that Margo is the larger and more durable man and you can sum up what your asking from Miguel. If Miguel pulls this through it will prove just what kind of boxer/fighter he really is.

 

If the jab that Cotto used against Mayorga is present this fight, the eye will make a difference in the fight. Even if Cheato isn't hurt, the commission will not risk permanent damage.

 

I would say Cotto expects to get hit, and I don't think he underestimates Margos power, I do think however, that he feels that if he was indeed using illegal wraps, he can weather the storm for the entire fight and get the UD.

 

This also my prediction.

 

Ill leave this forum if Margs eye gets ****ed again. People are overplaying this point majorly.

 

I have thought that this fight may be stopped due to Margs eye and is making me wonder to bet on him or not, as I think the outcome is the same but all it takes is a clash of heads or a cut....

Does anyone know who is the referee in this fight.

 

I've got a bad feeling about this fight. I dont want to see Margarito permanently damaged and would hate to see Cotto broken again too.

The best outcome for me would be Cotto to win in a good fight and declare that the punches were the same and both fighters have some sort of respect for each other.

Cant see it though, has controversy written all over it ...

For my money.... 1 of the best undercards in a while.

 

IF we TRULY believe Margarito's wraps were clean perhaps... But think about it, after 11 rounds, Cotto was gassed. It was late in round ten, when Cotto's arms were shot and he got caught sliding to his left on the ropes with 20 sec left in that round. That freebie (hands down) shot changed it all for the rest of the fight. Up until then, it was an even fight, with Margarito gaining momentum while Cotto was losing it. Cotto was still making Tony miss a lot of shots and catching him with decent shots.

I don't think Cotto will make the same mistakes again... I don't see him backing up into the ropes either. I think he will pull off the W via UD but, I also believe if he sits on his punches he can get Margarito out of there. Shane was throwing haymakers from his ankles... but he did it with conviction. Cotto was fighting going backwards in the first fight. He needs to circle, clinch and throw his shots with intent to harm when the opportunity presents itself.

 

This will be a tough fight for both fighter, however, I think Cotto will delivery an extreme amount of combination shot on Margarito just like the first fight. The difference will be in the later rounds of this rematch. I think stamina, endurance will be the key elements here between the two.
