damn fellaz, i've never been so ****en torn apart from a scheduled boxing fight....
2 of my fav's are fighting and everyday from now on till that day will be hell.....cotto, stylistically is the closest i will ever get to chavez again, the only problem is that he's a damn puerto rican     , i still claim that when chavez fought rosario, or camacho, he impregnated a puerto rican chick that night who later on went back to puerto rico and had cotto.....:deal :deal

but anyways, the mexican side of me would love to see margo win and finally get some respect in the game...i remember arguing and fighting for margo way back in the day when people would laugh at me for even thinking he would one day be a champ, let alone a pretty dominant one......

cotto on the other hand got my attention way back from his espn days and i remember i would always think "this is the man to beat the **** out of mayweather", and really, thats the only reason i continued to watch him....but seeing his humble side, and him ko'ing almost anything in his path, fighting alot like my all time fav. fighter "chavez", never being disrespectful, always giving the fans what they want, the heart of a warrior he's had when in trouble, etc etc just made me love the guy and put him on top of my fav list....followed by jermain taylor and margarito......

looking at both fighters i just can't see how cotto can beat him, but then looking at cotto i just can't see how margo can beat him :huh :huh it's confusing as **** and this is one fight that i can't really predict, maybe cause i dont want it to happen.....i've defended cotto many times at my house and where ever i go....it's hard being mexican and supporting a puerto rican fighter here in southern cali...i mean, just yesterday we got into a pretty heated arguement because of it....i was defending cotto while my in laws were defending margo....then i caught myself and told myself "WHAT THE **** ARE YOU DOING, YOUR A MARGO FAN TOO", so i just said "may the best mand win".......

i think i'm falling into depression over this ****

but anyways, i dont expect you guys to understand me, but i really wish the best for both of them AND MAY THE BEST MAN WIN.....a loss won't turn me away from my fighters, but it'll sure as hell hurt....

It's totally understandable. I'm puerto rican and I predicted DLH to slap Tito all over the ring b/c he was so one-dimensional. I caught hell from my family, but who cares.

One should never allow their heritage to be the basis for discrediting a fighter or build up a fighter that doesn't deserve it. But it happens all the time. Thats why I always give extra respect to those individuals that tell it how it is regardless of heritage or background. examples... Brits that realize Hatton is out of Floyd league. Mexicans that straight up admitted Gomez not being in the same class as Cotto before the fight. Puerto Ricans that gave Margo his due after destroying Cintron for the second time. Philipinos that give Marquez props for giving Paquiao a run for his money...
Good healthy rivalries are always good in boxing as long as they're conducted in sportsmenship fashion. Some of the best Mexico vs Puerto Rico, Mecico vs Philipines, even Mexico vs Mexican-American.

You gotta root for Margarito then! Thats how it goes man, blood is thicker than water. At least for the sake of "rooting" or cheering is concerned.

that's kind of how i feel, but i really just can't pick one fighter and side with him, i cant.....

to me, cotto is the king of the welterweights and margo is the uncrowned king from another country, and when kings face each other (especially a rican vs a mexican), only good things happen for boxing fans.....but i'm a die hard of both of them and it's really tearing me apart.....

Cotto definitely is the closest thing to JCC...He is like JCC minus chin but with a little more finesse and probably less power, but damn Cotto sure does rearrange faces just like JCC

Freddy your a good dude like cooked food, some Mexicans and even some Puerto Ricans drive me insane with some of their threads and biased posts you express rationale and love for your heritage while respecting the abilities and attributes of fighters from a different culture.....this is commendable.

Just go for the fighter that has the better tools, the better skill, delivers the better shot, and can take the better shot.

    it's ****en weird man...

yesterday my father in law went over to see us and he was like "margo is gonna kill cotto, cotto aint never fought someone like margo"....i told him it goes both ways...what makes it exciting is that neither of them have faced fighters like each other and they both have weapons for each other....
margo has that uppercut that can find a home cause of how cotto places his hands...
but cotto has that body attack and speed to land 2 or 3 solid shots before one of margos finally gets there...and cotta also has head and waist movement to move out of there quickly...

anyways, **** got pretty heated and that makes me go for cotto more, just cause nobody over here gives him a chance and they think margo is gonna walk through him........

but then i come on the boards and see people smash on margo and i feel hella different about it ....it's weird man

I suggest you maintain you indifferent attitude when evaulating a fight of this nature. You can't allow yourself to cloud your mind with nationalistic pride and you can't judge Cotto on his preformance against a limited Gomez. This fight can have several outcomes but it is sure to be a crowd pleaser. I have similar battles at home with my fellow Ricans.....I think the fight comes down to Cotto's ability to adjust to Margo's attack....if Cotto can smother Margo's inside punches and land his shorter ones while tagging him with the jab when Margo comes in he will win the fight. If Margo can implement a consistant barrage without getting countered in the process he can win the fight. It will be a war of attrition and ring generalship when not in the trenches.

Intoxication is key when veiwing a fight of this caliber. I will be filled with at least half a bottle of Hennessy VSOP before the opening bell.

whats funny is that cotto reminds me of a poor mans version of oscar de la hoya and margarito a version of tito.
