Corrales/Castillo 1 didnt do that well either(arena looked half empty). They had a great fight and the rematch had a sold out arena with good PPV numbers. I expect low numbers for this fight. But after this fight delivers (and it will), then you will see a popularity bump for both fighters.

Nobody told the douchebags on eBay that the tickets aren't doing well. They're outrageously over pricing them trying to directly rip people off. Ringside seats opened at $700 retail. People aren't that stupid.

IF they will lower the ticket price maybe people will come, specially people can't afford much because of every price hike.

dont blame it on boxing its the two fighters at hand and the networks. Both mayweather fights last year did massive numbers which shows boxing still has the capablity of drawing big crowds and doing great numbers. Floyd oscar did biggest numbers ever?? why because they are stars heck even tito-jones did over 500,000 and they both shot like it or not the fighters are the attraction and have to bring more to the table than just fighting abilities to attract large crowds and casual fans.
miguel cotto is a champ floyd mayweather is a star

Hatton might be the biggest draw in the UK.

Hatton did not sell out a US arena, nor had a PPV in the USA. Yet he pulls 850k?

What was Hattons highest PPV in the UK?

What was Hattons COMBINED total in the UK pre Mayweather fight?

Do you blame the Cotto fans for not wanting to pay good money to see their guy get his head taken off? If I were a Cotto fan I wouldn't be dropping coin on this one, either.

The Judah Cotto bout did many less PPV numbers than PBF Judah.

Just buy the PPV. Wathing it on live on stage isn't worth it. Unless Cotto would say he wants to kill Margarito. F*ck I'll buy a ring side seat!!!!

Well all the stink is over sluggish gate sales then?

I guess it would be a big deal for people heading out to Vegas. Having you pay for your fuel, your stay and whatnot would be a problem. I imagine Vegas itself is down on numbers this year.

Anyways PPV isn't the same bag. 50 bucks ain't alot. So we'll see.

The fight is not being promoted well at all and here is how I know me being from Spanish Harlem a neighborhood that has a large Puerto Rican population and over the past 15 years or so has had a large influx of Mexican immigrants come to the neigborhood. When Tito/Oscar was made you saw billboards all over promoting that fight and when Miguel Cotto was preparing to fight Mohammed Abdulaev(sp). Miguel Cotto was at the PR festival in Spanish Harlem which takes place day before PR parade for promotion of that fight, but with this upcoming Cotto/Margo fight I have'nt seened not one ounce of promotion around my way at all.

I would agree with your entire post if Television was rating driven . If a program or sport doesn't spark a mass interest it will have less and less television time as you already now. Boxing has its loyal boxing fan that loves the sport till the end, but like the old saying goes Love don't pay the rent, and Boxing needs a super star to spark public interest in the sport once more.

Margo has NO fanbase outside of a couple of thousand diehard fans...Cotto is just on the verge of becoming a star. This isnt a fight that will do well even with great promotions..PPV numbers will be ok I bet...People arent willing to pay $100 to $4,500. I know I check the site that I get my tickets from and that have 500 tickets that isnt good with just over a week to go
