Read the red highlights And Clottey said he broke it, I'd probably want to use an excuse if I lost too. But the reality is, that he did not break his hand as was later known.
Once again, its only about what you believe. But one thing I want you to do is watch the fight, and for the first 4 rounds you will see Clottey is clearly winning. At the end of the 4th, he goes to his corner and starts complaining about his hand. Now answer this one question" Why would a guy who won the first 4 rounds fake an injury and lose the rest of the fight?
Am I saying Clottey's hand was not injured??? NO All I'm saying is what was reported days after, that his hand was NOT broken. Was it hurt? Very likely. Besides, I seen fighters win with one hand before. But anyway, that's besides the point. The point is that Margarito is a slow starter, Margarito came into the fight not 100%, with a severly spraigned ankle and shoulder problems, Clottey hurt his hand during the fight, Margarito did what he does best, pound, and Margarito won a wide UD.
He won a wide decision? He clearly lost the first 4. I gave the 8th round to Clottey because he came out with some great counters, and landed more effective shots, but if you disagree with me giving him the 8th, thats fine. But lets be nice & say AM won 8-4. Why are you acting as if the hand injury had nothing to do with the fight?
I'm not. Perhaps if Clottey wouldn't of sustained the hand injury Margarito would have had to dig a bit deeper for the win, perhaps Clottey would have been in an unfair physical advantage against AM ankle and shoulder. Who's to say that AM lost the first rounds because his ankle and shoulder were playing a factor in it.
You got some good points there bro. Thats why I just wanna see this rematch happen when both guys are 100%
I am going with Cotto. Marg is going to come in and try and do the same thing again. Cotto however can bring a new gameplan, work on his skills, and use a different approach. The first fight was very close, with some minor adjustments i see Cotto taking this out via a close decision victory.
Toss up for me. I'd lean to Margarito 51/49. Cotto did some great things early in the first fight and looked for a while to be on his way to a win. With the right game plan and training, Cotto could definitely do it.
I liked this post Varg, apart from the end. The final bit wouldnt happen;Margo cleans up WW and Floyd agrees to fight him??........come on Varg. I respect but strongly disagree on how you see that fictional fight playing out.Thats ok,people disagree on hypothetical fights all the time......but its You're thinking Floyd agrees to it in the first place that is far fetched and risible.
I can't believe how almost any topics in the boxing world ends up following Mayweather... the guy is retired, let him be. On the subject of the thread, I do think there are actually more than a few things Cotto can do differently and possibly win, but I have my doubts whether Cotto can pull it off or not because I really think those "adjustments" should have been part of his strategy in the first fight.
