As time goes by and I see the interviews with Mayweather both during training and after the last few fights and I really wonder if he isn't going to retire without fighting Cotto (let alone Margarito). Aside from his recent forays into music and other media events (wrestling) he has listed several reasons why Cotto just isn't a challenge for him (mostly financial) and that he has several nagging injury isssues. Is Floyd setting the stage for a retirement as undefeated champion without facing Miguel Cotto? Will he be able to pass up the money and the challenge to his claim of p4p without ever stepping into the ring with Cotto?

Everytime he does an ESPN interview he gets asked the question. He will fight Cotto or hear it for the rest of his life.

Well that's the catch ain't it? Cotto HAS to stay undefeated. Therefore i say no matter who he fights, boxing fans must ROOT FOR COTTO! If he loses to Margarito, that's it. Mayweather-Cotto is out of the window.

True but that fight had already been set in before Judah lost to Baldomir. And Mayweather had talked about fighting Judah for some time. No such hopeful signs here.

Yeah but even if Cotto were to lose he is still a better draw than Judah ..I still beleive as long as the money is there it can be made ..

So, if Dela Hoya defeats Mayweather (which is possible since the last fight was close) will everyone then be hammering about Cotto/Dela Hoya? "If" Oscar wins I cannot wait to read the opinions on this site....it will be quite comical to say the least!
