I'd object to Cotto vs Mayweather getting made. First I dont see Cotto as that good of a fighter and certainly stylistically not one that could trouble Mayweather given his lack of height and reach.

Nor does a win against Cotto help Mayweather. people will say Cotto was shot and that Pac already beat him.

Floyd/Sergio would be great, but I don't see anyone that regularly fights under 154 fighting him anytime soon. So yes, it's a fight that I'd love to see... Best fight besides Pac IMO. But I honestly think Arum would give up Cotto to Floyd before Floyd fought Sergio. I can admit that. :thumbsup

    You think he wasnt?
    You are kidding right?
By no means would margarito have won that fight, but by no means should cotto have been taking that many shots with that big of a speed advantage.

    Perfectly said.

Floyd would be doing the same thing Pac gets **** for, which is fighting leftovers.

Mismatch my ass. Who has Floyd beat lately that's anywhere close to Cotto's level. Old ass Mosley doesnt count.

This is a good fight. Cotto's good enough and has a style to give Mayweather a tough fight. Plus he's younger , and bigger. Besides a Pac fight this is the next best thing. It should have happened years ago.

Exactly. Mayweather can fight him just to get the name under his belt so people can quit bitching, but who really thinks Cotto will win? Pacquiao is THE priority. **** all of these other options, until it's 100% positive that fight can't be made. Crazy all these people claiming Mayweather's ducking Pac now keep pushing other options for Mayweather and Pacquiao than each other. Get the ****ing fight made.

Agreed for the most part, I would rather see PBF v Serg, Pac V JMM IV, Cotto v Kirkland or Canelo. That does not mean I would not be drawn to a PBF -Cotto fight. It would be one sided but you do have fools who still think that cotto could beat PBF.

Q: Anyone ever seen Cotto thoroughly outboxed? Did Pacquiao outbox Cotto? Did Margarito outbox Cotto? I agree that PBF will beat him handily, but how will it go down exactly? It is still one of the most intriguing matchups out there.

Unless something truly improbable happens, Cotto doesn't beat Mayweather.

But he's done enough throughout his career, and looked good enough in his last chance that he deserves the chance to try. So, I don't have any issue with this match-up, if potential Pac-Mayweather or Mayweather-Martinez matches can't be made. At the very least, he's turned himself into the logical fall back option if that really is the case.

Old ass Mosley? Same Mosley that destroyed Margarito easier then both Cotto and Pacquiao did, while not sustaining any damage.

Cotto still got busted up by Cheato. It was in no way the masterclass people want to portray it as. Hell Sergio Mora would beat Cheato at this point.

Ortiz would give Cotto a very tough fight. I'd favor Cotto only because Cotto has more heart. Ortiz is bigger and more athletic. Ortiz is also a bigger stylistic problem for Mayweather then Cotto. Ortiz has a high work rate is bigger then Mayweather and a southpaw.

Cotto is a southpaw turned conventional. Which means his best punch is the lefthook and jab. No way does that work against Mayweathers defense.

Martinez and Khan are far more enticing then a on handed shop worn fighter like Cotto.

He already did. Marquez was a Pacquiao leftover.

I thought Pacquiao outboxed Cotto. There is a video of Pacquiao countering Cotto's jab effectively with the left hand.

I think Joshua Clottey outboxed Cotto. Should've gotten the decision.

When Mayweather was a lil welter this matchup was intriguing. But now that Mayweather has grown into the weight and is walking down guys like Mosley and Ortiz. Not so much.
