yea, seriously...mayweather didn't need to ****ing retire...he really thought he could live the rest of his life spending money the way he does with virtually no income? He SHOULD have fought Cotto and he should have fought Mosley 4-5 years ago

I think Cotto can definitely bounce back. To beat Mayweather you need an effective jab, and aggressive punching both up top and to the body. Cotto could absolutely hurt Mayweather if he boxes smart. Pre-Margarito would obviously be preferred but anyone who thinks it would be an easy win for PBF is blind.

Cotto was a force at 140. He lacked the size to be as good at 147. His resume, pre-Margarito, was built entirely on the Mosely win, a great fight in which Mosely looked merely good. He beat a Zab Judah whose previous 3 fights were a no-contest and two losses. He beat a great Carlos Quintana who hasn't exactly gone on to set the world on fire. And he beat Mosely, who appeared completely baffled by Cotto choosing to box him, and even then made it such a close fight that it could have easily gone either way.

Then he was destroyed by Margarito, taken into very deep waters by Clottey, and destroyed again by Pac. Maybe he was just never as great as advertised at 147 (he was murderous at 140). The Mosely win was his best and how good a win that was is still up in the air because we still don't really know how good Mosely is until we see him fight again.

Void was afraid to fight Cotto, just like he was afraid to fight Pac, Margarito, Mosely and even Williams.

Agreed. I think it would have been a much tougher fight for PBF than most of his fans think. Do I think Cotto would have won? No, I don't. I think it would have been a tight decision in Floyd's favor. But it would have been his toughest fight since JLC I and I think he knew it.

Thhhat's probably about as bang on as you can get it for the most likely outcome. But if the most likely outcomes always happened, we'd have no Douglas/Tyson type fights.

which one is it, either cotto has a bad chin or bad defense, he cant have both or he would have been knocked out more often.

the chicken said he'd not let boxing (meaning cotto, margo, williams, mosley) retire him, so he retired from boxing instead lol.

and yes, floyd wouldn't get passed cotto unscathed or maybe even undefeated

He lacks in both the chin and the defense area. That's why he resorted to backpeddling every time he got touched up.

Mayweather is the bigger draw who had bigger options on the table. Why would he push for a lesser fighter who's promoted by a guy that hated his guts? It's not up to the champ to call people out. The challenger has to step up to the plate.

Some call it boxing instead of backpeddling.

We all know Mayweather is the bigger draw now, but before his fights with Hatton and DLH he and Cotto have pretty similar numbers. That's the the time we are talking about not now in the present.

So Mitchell and Baldomir were bigger names than Cotto? And Margarito a challenger call out Mayweather for a record pay at that time for Mayweather. What happend is Margarito also a lesser fighter than his other opponents at 147? He call out the champ right?:patsch

Reg...then you are obviously talking about a different occasion then when Floyd challenged him at 140.

yeah, Cotto ran, Pacquiao ran, Mosley ran, Williams was unknown and had nothing to lose, and Margarito was so-so.
