Cotto will never have beaten Mayweather. Though this fight would not be as lopsided as the Pacquiao-Cotto fight. Mayweather would be able to outbox him very easily - Cotto is simply a good fighter and doesn't do anything really great. Mayweather just too smart, gifted, talented, and all wrong for Cotto.

You do realize that Cotto didn't even make the jump to WW until a month AFTER Floyd foughy Baldo? After he beat Gatti just a year earlier, Cotto and his team didn't want the fight. As far as Margo goes, I don't believe Floyd ever wanted to fight him. I've stated that numerous times.

Floyd would have beaten Cotto up if they had fought. He would have ruined him years ago and he would finish and embarass him now. All Puerto Rico knows this...

I used their names to compare them to Cotto as you mention lesser fighters. We all know Mayweather didn't want any of Cotto deep inside after Cotto's performances against Quintana, Judah, and Mosley. That's when it came out to be about money for him and fear of losing his 0. After his fight with DLH, the Cotto fight was the biggest thing available to him esp. since Cotto became one of the top welterweights after his victory over Mosley. What you have to realize sometimes Mayweather is the king of contradicting himself. He says fighters have to call him out, but then when hes ask whos next, he responds we have to sit down and talk.

Honestly we all know Cotto's PPV numbers were very similar to those of Manny and Mayweather and even at times larger. Manny and Mayweather PPV numbers both took off after their victories over the two most popular guys Hatton and DLH. Even a blind person could see this. Imagine if the Cotto/DLH took place, the numbers it would have perform. The buzz was just crazy, eventually Cotto lost to Margarito and that kill that fight.

this fight would be very big back then. both guys are undefeated and number1 and 2 at welterweight. i would have to say that this fight is even bigger than floyd-mosley fight right now.

Cotto is a warrior but he lost in his last 2 big challenges. Mayweather would have outboxed him.
